I've seen a fair few posts on here relating to marijuana and was just wondering what peoples general view of it was. I have smoking pot since I was old enough and have been around it all my life. What I don't understand is how people who have never even seen pot or it's effects can give such damning reports of the stuff. What are your veiws? Do you think legalisation is the way to go? Do think people who are basing their opinions solely on government propaganda against the drug should be able to say anything about it?

Don't get me going on this subject. I do not smoke now but when I was younger I did. It really makes me mad when I hear some peoples comments about what it can or does do to a person. I think alot of these people are basing what they think on what some governmental agency has said to try and keep people from smoking it. I think it should be legalized. What makes me the maddest about it is the punishments that are sometimes handed down for simple possession of marijuana. How many young kids lives have been ruined by being busted with it? And the fact is that alot of the people involved in prosecuting and punishing people for possession of marijuana at sometime in their past, when they were young, smoked it themselves. When I was a teenager it was still a felony charge, but most of the time when the cops caught you with it, they just took it away from you. Heck I remember going to concerts and smoking it and there would be cops standing right there and they did not do a thing. Nowadays it is a misdemeanor but in my opinion they are harder on you now. The government doesn't want it legalized because of all the money they make in fines and probation fees when someone is busted. They should just legalize it. Some people say they won't legalize it because then people would grow their own. So what, they would still make money, cause a lot of people would not be able to grow good stuff and would therefore go out and purchase it. And don't tell me it kills brain cells, I don't believe it. Only thing negative I can say it does it make some people very lazy. Cigarettes and Alcohol are both legal and do much more damage than pot. I could go on . . .

I have nothing against it at all. I used to smoke a fair bit, but I quit about a year ago because I'm competing in division 1 collegiate athletics. As an athlete, and one who has smoked, I noticed no effects on my athletic ability. I personally will never smoke again for no reason really, but I do think legalisation is the way to go with government regulation. And no I don't think people basing their opinions on government porpoganda should be able to say anything against it.

I think that before anyone is allowed to comment on it they should be shown the facts and not just the negative ads and commercials the government keeps putting out.

It is illegal so no one should use it without a prescription. I do think it is no more dangerous than tobacco or alcohol and consideration should be given to legalization and sale to those over 21, the same as alcohol.
