I think so. I had to have a transvaginal ultrasound my first pregnancy. I was only 6 wks along & the baby was too small to really see her. I really couldn't make out anything--kind a small blob ((the yolk sac was bigger than the baby!!)) Good luck hope they can spot that little one in your belly!!

Before 5 wks, they won't be able to see anything. At 5 wks, you can see a tiny gestational sac, but since you haven't had your positive pregnancy test yet and by your period if you are pregnant, you would be 4wks and nothing much would be seen at the time. Most likely, your lining may be thicker and darker in the middle if you are pregnant, but it is hard to determine until you are 5-6wks pregnant by an ultrasound, and by that time you should have a positive pregnancy test already.

Even though they are searching your ovaries for cysts, they should still measure the thickness of your lining and check your uterus too, but that doesn't mean they will be able to determine pregnancy at the time.

they would be able to tell by the apperance of your uterus, although they would not be able to tell you if it was a viable pregnancy or not as you are only about 5 weeks, and generally they wont see the heart beat until closer to 7, but there is a possibility, and I am not sure about the poster above who said they wont even look at your uterus, of course they will, they are going from the bottom up, how are thegoing to bypass what comes first, they will point out your cervix, then your uterus then your overies usually left then right.. and they will need to look at your uterus to make sure there is no evidence of cyst as well, most of the time they take the mindset of if you are already in there and using the equipment better check everything at once.

Well, I don't know about that early but I had one at 6 weeks and I could see the placenta and the baby and the heartbeat, all very clearly. It looked like a tadpole with a huge head and a flickering light. Just mention it to the tech, at the very least they should be able to say if your uterus is enlarged.

A baby is not visible until 6 weeks after the first day of last period, so your period would be about 2 weeks late at that point. At 5 weeks the gestational sac is seen, and at 4 weeks, when your period is due, they might be able to tell if the lining of your uterus has thickened, but that's it.

Yeah, they'll be able to tell. That's the type of ultrasound you don't need a full bladder for. I know lots of doctors say they want to see you at 8 weeks, possible because it's easier to see the embryo/fetus. I'm pretty sure they can tell though. The tech won't be able to tell you of course but ask the doctor when they get the results. Good luck!

I'm not sure... I just had a transvaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks and my husband who was watching the screen said he saw what looked like an eyeball, which was the gestational sac with yolk and he said he could see the heartbeat, and that was it. I suppose they may be able to pick up the gestational sac, but not much else. Do some research and see what you can find out!

They MIGHT be able to see if you're PG...but don't get your hopes up too much. Baby would be very, very small...and a transvagianl US isn't the best way to detect PG.....after my IVF...my insurance required that TUS be done first....and we couldn't see nadda....but with a regualar US....we saw the baby at 6 weeks!

Yes. I had one done after IVF and was able to see the sac with a dot (the baby) in the center. I do hope you are pregnant.

Good Luck!
