I believe only he could answer the question. I stopped putting my hand on my heart after Bush sent our troops to war over fabrications. It's my personal protest of the war. My only other option would be to burn a flag, and well that's just down right wrong. I believe it also falls under freedom of speech and expression. I've seen many people not do it even at political rallies. I've attended them for both candidates. ps.. Watch Nascar... Only a select few put their hand on their heart during the Anthem.. Isn't Nascar the 2nd most American sport after Football? If those Good Ol Boys don't do it, does that mean they're not American?

Neither do I, I never knew we were supposed to be doing that. Perhaps it's my scouting background, but I just stand at attention during the anthem and do the hand-heart thing during the pledge. I don't think it's that uncommon either, it's really just personal preference.

Actually you are supposed to stand at attention during the anthem...you put your hand over your heart during the pledge of allegiance...if its wrong to not cover your haert during the anthem...there are about 100000 people guilty at every NFL football game

The hand over the heart is the proper stance for the Pledge of Allegiance, not the Anthem. Standing silent and still is proper reverence for the Anthem

Where exactly did you read this mis-information?

Again, why would that matter. Yes it is an accepted sign of respect but there are many ways to respect the flag and our country.

If you want to have a real discussion, please at least cite a source.

Ignorant and disrespectful of all those who've died fighting soe that he can run for president of a country. A country he does not appreciate or know the value of. So he can make Al Gor his Vice Prez and together they can just slam us to all their Chinese and Terrorist pals.

I know he did it once but I'm not sure he does it all of the time. It was a stupid mistake if he did it once and its a slap in the face to every American if he continues to do it.

Man, these bleeding-heart sings of patriotism are pathetic. Why does that matter? You have panties with US flags prints, you have condoms with US flag prints, you have rugs made with US flag prints, not to mention dog bowls, toilets, and socks. It's ridiculous that you have to display "patriotism" everytime.
