This is actually an easy question. People care more about themselves than right and wrong. They don't want the consequences of their wrongdoing, so she/they abort the baby. It is not a part of the womans body. . .
Anyone can get ahold of pictures of babies who were born at far too early to possibley survive. I once saw a picture of an embryo that had born incredibly early, but had not yet died. It looked exactly like a newborn baby, only curled up into a slightly odd position. And guess what? It was suspended in a blob of fluid the size of the doctor's thumb. The baby was the size of your fingernail. So, try to find a picture like that, and take a look at it. And then get a picture of an aborted embryo. (google "truth truck", you can probably find a picture) And look at 'em side by side. Or show a child the picture of the aborted baby. (I don't mean litterally, some realities are to harsh for kids) But kids have seen pictures of these "worthless blobs of tissue" They cry. Even a child knows this is wrong. A baby, however old, is human.
It all comes down to one question. . . . . . . .
Is human life valuable? Or are we a cosmic accident without meaning? You know murder is wrong! You have a conscience! Pay attention to it!
And on top of that, rape impregnation is a non issue. Scientists have found evidence that there is something in a woman's body that fights against that, and keeps it from happening.
And, yes, I am quite willing to discuss appropriate punishments for abortion.

Well you could look at this from the "I don't care about life" side...
abortions keep the population from sky rocketing
and it lets the mother decide whether she is ready to ruin her body and have a kid (btw did you know that sometimes women break their tail bone in giving birth)
I see it as murder in the case of the womans fault, seriously stay abstinent if you don't want a kid
Now I have mixed feelings when it comes to rape, it's murder, but it must hurt someone mentally to know they are caring half of their rapist with them.
In health, I understand, because most of the time if the mother is going to die, the baby usually dies too.

For the same reason women have other rights.. It's not the governments place to decide.. Women want all the rights but now some don't feel that others should have those same rights and allowed to chose on their own.
I don't get it.. women SCREAM to have the right of choice, but in the same breath SCREAM that they want to tell others what to do with their body... Does that make sense?
Personally I'm against abortion 100% but thats ONLY my choice, not the law...

A bad Supreme Court decision (Roe v. Wade) coupled with the selfishness and callousness of many women.
The irony is these same women would march on Washington to oppose your right to self-defense with firearms, yet would murder their own unborn children in the hopes of extending their single party lifestyles a few years longer.
Now I'm not talking about morning after pills or very early term abortions, but these second and third term procedures where physcians use suction to rip and tear the limbs of a fetus. This is just selfish and evil. And to think I used to be pro-choice. Boy, did I finally wake up.
While I think abortion ought to be determined (yay or nay) at the state level in each individual state, I still hold this as the most selfish act a person can take. Maybe we ought to change our laws so that the child can come to term and the woman can choose a state-assisted suicide if she so chooses and is so upset over having a child.
"Abort the mother, not the child."

Because the U.S. Supreme Court said that state laws banning abortion violated a woman's 14th Amendment rights. Until they reverse the decision, or a Constitutional Amendment is passed banning it, it will remain legal.

Abortions are legal so that they can be performed in a safe environment and not in the back room with a coat hanger. Abortions have always occurred and will continue to occur whether legal or not. Some are necessary some are not, but that is besides the point.

Because Constitutionally, it was determined to be an infringement on the rights of the mother to deny her this option.
