It's close with me. I'm a huge fan of George Lynch (former member of Dokken) and can't get enough of his lead guitar.

The lead guitarist of Firehouse is underrated, but pretty damn good also.

Thanks in advance for all your answers, and I hope you all have a Happy Holiday! :)

Hi-Standard did a cover of California Dreaming on the Survival Of The Fattest comp. It wasn't the most technically difficult or longest solo ever, but it was fantastic. It fit the song so well! Anyone can throw in a crazy solo that usually doesn't sound like it really belongs, this one belonged. And that's hard to do.

Ace Frehley is underrrated just because he was a member of KISS. He has some good work with KISS and awsome songs from his solo albums.

Also am a fan of Dokken.

Purely depends on what styles you liek but i think some of the greatest solos are as follows:
Floods - Pantera (dimebag)
Cliffs of Dover - Eric johnson (same)
One - Metallica (Hammet)
Freebird - Lynyrd skynyrd (rossington)
Eruption - Van Halen (eddie)
Bark At The Moon - Ozzy (Jake E. Lee)

contrary to popular belief randy did no play bark at the moon solo he died before.
anyways,

Crazy Train - Ozzy (randy)
Hanger 18 - Megadeth
anything Steve Vai did solo wise nothing in whitesnake though.
Alot of jimi is good
most of Stevie ray Vaughn
this dosent even touch on some of the greatest but it all depends on what style you like.

I agree with alvaro 100% that the Eddie Van Halen's solo in "Beat It" by Michael Jackson is the best guitar solo in a rock song. Brilliant the way it builds and builds and then cresendos.

Give In To Me by Micheal Jackson. Slash from Guns and Roses plays guitar and does a wicked solo. The song is a total departure from MJ's style and is pure rock. It's awesome!

I love the guitar in Crazy Train (Ozzy) - it's really way too good for the song it's in.

I like it cause it sounds good. I know a bunch of rock nuts who are all obsessed with how technically difficult a guitar solo is - that's just "rockstar syndrome" (everyone wants to be a rock star). All I care about is how it sounds, and that one sounds good. I don't know if I'd call it my favorite tho... it's just the one that comes to mind right now.
