shut up DMAN. you don't know jack.
kobe is the better player just because he has much more experience in the NBA and does not make youthful mistakes like lebron. kobe is much more consistent and has killer crunch-time instinct. kobe can do anything with the ball. he can drive, create his own shot, or dish it out for an assist. kobe is virtually unguardable on a hot night. he can shoot over ANYONE, drive around anyone, and pass around anyone. right now, if lebron was double-teamed, he would not be productive. for example, last year the cavs played the detroit pistons. the pistons were smart enough to put a double-team on lebron and how did he do? he scored less than 10 points that night. kobe can manuever out of any sticky situation. also, kobe's defense is better than lebrons. just watch a full length laker game and a full length cav game and you will see the difference. kobe is ALWAYS hungry for the ball. he plays tough defense because the hungrier he gets, the more he will get the ball. right now, it seems like lebron plays defense just because it is defense. however, lebron has gotten much much better. kobe's 3 point shooting is also much better than lebrons.
in a few years, when lebron is more experienced, he will pass kobe's superior shooting skills and will become the greatest player in the history of the NBA [next to MJ and all the great legends]. lebron is already on the road to greatness. last night, he became the youngest player to score 9,000 career points.
so, in conclusion, kobe will be better than lebron james for maybe 1 or two more years. after that, the king will claim his throne as the BEST player in the league.

How could anyone who actually is a fan of basketball say Kobe is a "superior scorer" than Lebron? Their shooting percentage is about the same. Lebron actually has the better percentage (also from the 3 point range) but it's not enough to say Lebron is really better. 5% overall difference doesn't mean jack.
How could anyone who actually watches basketball say Kobe is better at defense than Lebron. The All-Defense first team honor is a joke. It's like Shakespeare in Love winning over Saving Private Ryan for Best Picture. Lebron has more rebounds, steals, and blocks. And Kobe is better at defense? But then just like their shooting percentages, Lebron's extra rebounds, steals, and blocks don't mean squat. They're not enough to really make a judgment on who's better in defense.
And clutch shots? Before this season started, Kobe is 17-76 in clutch shot in his career. Lebron is 13-32. Sure, Kobe won more clutch games, but then Kobe played 11 years and Lebron played 4. So what does that mean? It only mean that Kobe won 4 more games with game deciding shots in 11 years than Lebron did in 4 year. And it also means that Kobe lost 44 more games by missing the game deciding shots in 11 years than Lebron did 4. So it doesn't really mean jack.
The problem with these Kobe jockers is that they kept saying Kobe is better and there's no proof! And vice versa, there is no definitive proof saying Lebron is better than Kobe. But as far as prediction goes, Lebron will get better and Kobe will only get worse.
Kobe is in his prime (actually last year was his prime if the stats aren't evident enough), and Lebron is just as good as Kobe at the age of 22. So it's easy to say Lebron is better than Kobe. But this is not definitive, is it?

I think that Kobe is a superior scorer and a better defender than LeBron is right now. However, King James is bigger and is a better passer. Also, LeBron's quite a few years younger than Kobe and so, I believe he has a higher ceiling than the former #8.

Right now Kobe. But look at the learning curve of both. Kobe was not as good as Lebron this early in his career.

For sure. Kobe is a better defender and a better shooter. Kobe is arguably THE best player in the NBA right now. There's nothing he can't do on the floor.

although they are close, lebron james is better than kobe. lebron is one of the most underated defensive players...lebron scores more, plays better defense and he can create his own shot when he wants

It is impossible to pick one over the other. On any given night either could perform better than the other. I would suggest you just sit back and enjoy two of the best players in the game.

i'd sey LBJ, HE'S MUCH of a def effort , like blocking an rebs , but kobe's a better stealer....
in offense , kobe's a offensive dynamite while LBJ finishes Strongly
LBJ is much younger an has a chance 2 improve
BOTTOM LINE - LBJ RULES!!!
