yes, playing physical is part of the game, if you are friends with someone on the other team, you should put away the friendship until the game is over.

I don't care if my father plays for the opposing team. I would play my best to beat him even if its into oblivion. Don't get me wrong as for I love my father but when it comes to us being on other sides of the fence or in this case team, yes I would play my A game against him and pray that we can leave the game on the field and not off of it.

Don't you expect the same from him? Would you respect him any less for playing his heart out for his team and giving 100%?

In HS a good friend of mine played for a rival team. We went all out for 4 quarters, hitting as hard as we could, but helping each other up, a shaking hands after the game.

20 years later, we still talk about it and have fun talking about who got the best of who....

yes. your friend should understand that you are just trying to play basketball. you aren't playing 'physical' just because he is your friend. you are playing physical because that is your job; that is was you are supposed to do. i was stuck in the same situation as you were. however, i put our friendship in the back of my mind and saw her like any other player. after the game, we hugged and congratulated each other on a great game. you owe hard effort and devotion to your team. you have many other guys counting on you to play 100%. just go out there give it all you got.

Just play within the rules of the game and hope he does the same. It is not a contest between you and him, you both play on teams that want to win the game.

Hell yea! If u were a real competitor you'd play 100% no matter who the opponent is. Go out there and take it to whoever tries guarding you. Plus, its just a basketball game it won't ruin your friendship, and I'm sure he'll be playing physical with you too.

YOU OWE IT TO YOUR TEAM TO PLAY AT 100% TONITE AS ANY OTHER NIGHT , IF HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THAT ------------ THEN HE MIGHT NOT BE AS GREAT OF A FRIEND AS YOU THINK . DON'T CUT HIM ANY MORE SLACK THAN SOME ONE YOU DON'T KNOW , IN THE GAME HE AND HIS TEAM ARE YOUR ENEMEY .
