How do I properly display an autographed book?

It depends whether you want to use the book or not. If you want to use it then you can display it on an open shelf, on top of a mantelpiece or in a glass china closet where you can see it all the time and use it when you want.

If you would like to preserve the book with out using it, you can open the book to the signature page and glue down all the other pages leaving the book in an open position. Then you can apply a thin layer of gold paint to the edges of the book.

However you like. Is it fine binding? Is that what you want to show or is it the signature instead? There are stands to hold books open to reveal the contents. I keep my signed, 1st edition Easton Press of Maya Angelou's Complete Collection of Poetry on top of my piano, closed. The binding is beautiful and the admirer can easily pick it up and page through it thus seeing the signature. I don't believe in "storing away' precious books. After all, books by nature are meant to be read and enjoyed.
