One answer says it all. You get more bang-for-the-buck with a Mac when it comes to desktop publishing, photo, movie and audio production.
As one answer said, there is a reason why the software works so well. There is a reason that Macs don't have the tens of thousands of viruses (and its not because of the number of Macs compared to PCs) and there a reason why specific software works better on a Mac then on a PC. It all has to do with the tight software coding and the internal architecture of the processor (even with the change to the Core2 Duo, which is not your run of the mill Intel processor). Some programs (Adobe Photoshop for one) are specifically written to take advantage of the way that the Mac works internally. The software for the Mac is also very intuitive, which is why it is so easy to learn and understand the software.
It is true that some Macs are limited as far as upgrades, but the same can be said about certain PCs. The Mac towers are very upgradable. Changes in RAM, video cards, hard drives, optical drives and peripheral cards are just as easy as a PC, but with much less hassle. Macs have always been the leader in true plug and play.
I always, when comparing PCs and Macs, try to stay unbiased. I have worked with both and both have their +'s and -'s, but when it comes to answering the direct question of Mac or PC when it comes to production work, the Mac is the winner. Hands down.

if your into your photography then a Mac is the way to go as all photo agencies will use Mac's for photo editing a lot of people use macs for music and video too but if it was up to me i would go for a PC as i have used Macs in the past and found them the most complicated thing to use and not very user friendly but saying that the last time i used a mac was when the iMac with the different coloured screens was the latest Mac things may have changed by now

My wife is a photographer and we got an iMac last spring... there is no substitute. Even Adobe Photoshop runs better on a Mac... on the PC, the profile/settings would get corrupted every now and then on the PC. My 10 year old son now does the DVD production for photo presentations... he figured it out by himself with no help from us. I am a software programmer and left Windows based development almost 10 years ago (though mainly because I moved to the web/Java development).
The bottom line is, buy a Mac
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Additional info
------------------------------------
For those of you who say the Mac is more expensive, see the link below... it is NOT... in fact, with similar components, the Mac is actually CHEAPER than an equivalent Dell/Sony PC.
As far as software goes... the PC has a greater "range" of software... though, most of it crap. The Mac comes preloaded with EVERYTHING you need... and whatever software you purchase simply runs BETTER (and there is a reason for that... I know because of my software development background).
Now that Apple is using the Intel Core Duo processors, they are actually FASTER than the PowerPCs for half the price (of the processor).
Ease of use... my proof is that my wife was constantly calling me with questions on the PC, while with the Mac she is now telling me how to do things. Then, while I've had video/DVD software on the PC, when my 10 year old started using the Mac, he was able to produce a DVD without any help from me... he couldn't even create a movie on the PC (at all).

You can use Mac or PC, but PC will require you to purchase additional software to do what you want to do. The initial cost of the Mac is more, but I think in the end you'll end up paying about the same and have tools that are already integrated to play nicely with each other...not so much the case on a PC.

Most people use PC's because they are more common, better known and less expensive than mac. But, if you really need a computer that will always work, no matter what, for whatever you want, (in other words, if you really need the advanced technology) than Mac is the answer

Mac. Final Cut is the most professional video editing system and it is only available for macs. No worries, Macs are very easy to adjust to. Avid is the most profession video editing system for a PC but it doesn't near the capabilities of Final Cut. Hope I helped.

Macs come preloaded with really good software for these types of projects, like iTunes, GarageBand, iMovie, and iPhoto. However, they're useless if you don't like using them or if these features aren't enough for what you want to do. I would recommend trying one out at an Apple Store and seeing how you feel about it. I adapted to the Mac quickly, and the software is really great, but there are a lot more options for PCs (and they're more affordable). Your call. Good luck!

A camera is only as shitty as the person behind it. A good photographer can take a picture with anything. Your pictures aren't bad... you just have to get better. Like the other person said... use the rule of thirds. Look it up if you don't understand it. Learn about composition and lighting. These things you can learn on the camera you have and in the future advance to a camera that allows more creativity through manual controls

Watch an episode of the Ellen Degeneres show. You'll see a MacBook on her DJs console. Her previous DJ used one also. It's not product placement, he's using it. Ditto many other similar shows. Do you really want to try and reset your BIOS (whatever that is) and get rid of a virus during a performance?
