Ok, first of all...NO man looks good in a thong. Anyone that says they do is delusional. You all look foolish in them. I would flip burgers in a fast food place before I would ever demean myself by stripping.
You want an honest answer? Think about it...you are taking off your clothes and dancing naked or nearly naked for a bunch of drunken idiots while they shout at you to shake it and throw money at you. You wouldn't call that degrading?

It depends on how far you would go with it and what your local laws are, such as if touching is allowed and how much you take off. A stripper I knew said how men would often proposition him for sexual favors and how tired he got of it because he was only a stripper and did not engage in prostitution, but many people thought that he did. If you set your boundaries beforehand and stick to those boundaries, it would not be self degrading, but others will think that you will do anything for money and proposition you frequently. The only self degrading part would be if you did more than stripping or allowed yourself to do things that you really did not want to do.

Well, hint hint, there's not much of a market for male strippers performing for Straight men. Such a job is nowhere near as degrading as shovelling burgers for six bucks an hour at Burger World. I'd do it myself if I thought I could make any money at it. Make a good part time job! And it's a lot more honest a way of making a living than working for the government! Now that's degrading, demoralizing, and will skewer your sense of right and wrong.

Just realize that quick buck schemes have consequences. It really depends on your social skills, you have to really be good at hustling and chatting people up. If you are shy or introverted in any way you won't make any cash at all. There is fierce competition in that industry, I tried it but would have made more cash working in fast food at the time. Theres a lot more to it then being comfortable with taking your clothes off, you have to constantly flirt and chat older men up 24/7, they just dont flock around you and throw cash like you may expect.

I don't see it as necessarily degrading. But it's definitely not a long-term career move, so if you're doing it strictly as a college gig, it may be a smart move.

Working in the sex industry even in porn, strip clubs is! People are acting like pieces of meat and clients treat htem like that.

depends on you... a lot of people do a lot of different things to pay for college. So as long as you are comfortable with it and are paying for your schooling, more power to you. If I had the opportunity to do it, I might...
