x = [- 7 ± √(49 + 160) ] / 8
x = [- 7 ± √(209) ] / 8
Option c is meant to read thus.

Question 2
x = [ - 5 ± √(25 - 60) ] / (- 6 )
x = [ - 5 ± √(- 35) ] / (- 6 )
x = [ 5 ± i √(35) ] / (6 )

are you kidding me? It would take less time to do the calculations yourself, than to type all this into yahoo questions. I just answered your other quadratic eqution question so go look at that answer and then do the rest yourself. I will do the second one though, since it has imaginary numbers.

[-5 +- sqrt(25 - 4(-3)(-5))] / (2*-3)
[-5 +- sqrt(-35)] / -6
5/6 +- isqrt(35) / 6

This equation is of form ax2+bx+c
a = 4 b = 7 c = -10
x=[-b+/-sqrt(b^2-4ac)]/2a]
x=[-7 +/-sqrt(7^2-4(4)(-10)]/(2)(4)
discriminant is b^2-4ac =209
x=[-7 +sqrt(209)] / (2)(4)
x=[-7 -sqrt(209)] / (2)(4)

This equation is of form ax2+bx+c
a = -3 b = 5 c = -5
x=[-b+/-sqrt(b^2-4ac)]/2a]
