Great question. Educational research is very relevant to the classroom, teachers just don't know about the research. It's really a shame. To begin to solve this problem, two things must happen:
(1) Teachers must learn to read research while in teacher school. For example, they must learn about relevant journals, parts of a research article, statistics, and generalizability; and
(2) Teachers must access journals. Other professionals (doctors, lawyers, et cetera) subscribe to journals updating them on the latest research. Education journals really are not very expensive. Very few teachers read research regularly.
