The ancient Greeks and Romans were known to have white/olive skin with brown/black hair. The Greeks used to bleach their hair to look lighter, and the Roman women used to bleach their skin or put articial cremes (sorry forgot the name they used) to make their skin look whiter. They had long heads and were naturally shorter than Nordics. The average height for a Roman was 5'6. The Romans and the Greeks used to imagine their Gods and Goddesses as blonde and blue eyed, as that was seen as a rare color in Ancient Greece and Rome. Of course thats not to say there werent any blondes. Aristotle described them as "the perfect race" as they weren't white as Nordics but not dark as Egyptians therefore having the "perfect" complexion. Pretty much they looked Mediterenean/Caucasian and they had that 'Mediterenean look' same like today.

Will depend on the person. I have jet black hair and it looks fantastic on me, and I have buddies with blonde hair that looks excellent on them.

Maybe some people think that greeks looked before like they look today, but that is not true! Before 2000 years and more, greeks looked whiteskin, dark blonde, light blonde hair and light brown hair, they usually had blue, gray and green eyes, brown-not so much. Romans looked like greeks maybe before but thats only because greeks had Rome under the control for some time. Greeks today have mostly brown eyes and dark skin and that is because the Turkish people had greeks under the control in 15. St. And they mixed.

This is something I've often wondered as a lot of ancient paintings show faces (excuse the childish description) that the bridge of the nose seems to come direct from the forehead in one straight line. Whenever I see people here like that (and it's not often) I stare (which is accepted in Greece) and think ... is that what ancient Greeks looked like???

well look at their statues, that's a pretty good indicator....I would think they would have had nice tight little bodies, since they didn't eat process foods ....they seem to look kind of good looking, but maybe Iam being romantic...lol
