I've never seen a plugged heater core in a Mitsubishi in the 7 years I've been a master Mits tech. I wonder if you have the heater valve open? Galants have a problem with the heater valve servo motor and when they fail they may not open. It's located on the right side of the heater box assembly and you must take the glove box out and part of the dash to access it. They were covered under warranty and a recall may still be in effect.
