Maybe it's beacuse I live in New Jersey, close to NYC, but people around me are startign to resemble satan and society is getting extremely bad. People are angry, you can't trust them, everyone is suing everyone for every little thing, and people are just becoming bad in general.
I want to be happy and successful, but I simply can't go on without somehow handling it.
Just yesterday I was getting my hair done, and one of the hairdressers started crying and was like "the client told me that she didnt like the job and was going to go to her car, get a gun,and kill me, and stormed out of the store without paying," etc.
Another lady said, "these days people are weird, expect everything."
What is going on?
Have times always been like this?
I'm 26, and I noticed a steady decline in this past decade.
Were the 80s and 90s any better?
Also, how do we deal with this B*llshit?
Everyone seems to be judging everyone else, and life seems to be very competitive.
HELP!

Simple this is a Fallen world and it will even become worst because people have become so materialistic and have forgotten the word virtues..seems like the Devil is working night and day and having overtime even.......just to corrupt the peoples' mind more, make them more evil and let people think more evil...if people dont wake up and change then the rupture is really very near..........but each one has his own soul to save..........each of us is responsible for our own salvation now........so while alive just do what you can for the sake of humanity......and stay good and optimistic that there is always hope no matter what!!!In the end............we will all be judged and the only question that will be asked is.........What good things have you done for humanitarian purpose???

The 70s were when it really started, the 60s were the ramp up to it. The decline of the family and the single mother family seems to not be helping anything...both parents are angry at each other, the child ends up angry at everyone, everyone blames everyone.
The answer is to get our country back to a two parent family, FAST. Lose the second and third mortgage and spend time together. Loving each other as a family and not sending messages of worthlessness to children and spouses will help.
Other than that, I think most people feel the end is near. It sure feels like it, more and more.

There is a great quote from the movie "Love Actually" that deals with this.
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspision love actually is all around. "
You might be noticing the hateful stuff because you are only focusing on the hateful stuff and not paying attention to the wonderful acts of kindness that happen around you every day.

I always try to be positive... Coming from the guy that tells everyone to be himself or herself and carry a gun!!! That comment has become sort of a joke for me, but I really do mean it.
I do carry a gun everywhere I go. I have a license to do so. In the early 90's while in Iraq, I got stabbed in the stomach. He pulled the knife out and was going to stick me again when I unloaded my 9mm into his face. That gun saved my life...
I am 36 y/o, weigh 220 lbs, have worked out almost every day for over 20 yrs, and have a fourth degree black belt in Kenpo... and I carry a gun..... Nut-job?? I think not!!
With that comes a good bit of responsibility. You can't just whip out a gun because you’re pissed off. You can do what ever is needed so that you are not a victim!! I can't afford to even get into confrontation with someone... With my size and martial arts background, I would get the "go directly to jail card"
I treat everyone with dignity and respect... Even when they show that they really don't deserve it! The world is full of wonderful people; unfortunately it is also full of horrible people too. I don't think there has been much of a change in the last few decades regarding the # of horrific people and their actions.... Where the change has taken place is in our ability to hear about it. We went from having 5 or 6 TV channels to 300 to 400 channels available. We get our news as it happens now days. The Internet is a great tool but it is a horrible one too. It pays for the media and the government to keep you scared. It keeps you watching and keeps you from arguing about where you tax dollars are going.
Luke, this stuff seems to weigh on you so much... I can't help to say that you really might want to sit down and make an actual list of the things that are important to you. Then maybe cut yourself off from giving a sh*t about anything that isn't on that list...

I'd have to agree with you. It is getting bad and quickly. In small rural area's people still wave when you pass by. That's the only way to escape the negativity is to move out of those big cities.
But, then again, that just brings more yay hoo's to the country. So, if you are coming into the country setting, be nice always, because there has to be some good in people somewhere.

HI luke,
don't fret dude, it's the freedom they've got - not all people can deal with freedom - they haven't got the morality to understand or to contemplate the consequences of thier actions. they do not in essence have the faculties the wisdom or the passion to be a moral person. I'm rarely a fan of relgiion but it does give a valid tradition for the basics of morality and in a generation almost exclusively lacking practiced religion there is no tradition to teach them the value of being a better person, they think their Quality as a person is increased by ownership of cool accessories. They confuse money for value. Money, without a society they're undermining, has no value
they need to know they're wrong - if people screw you over or you see immoral action decry it, ridicule it, replace it with mindful action- you make them realise the conseqeunces of their actions while mindful of acting in a way to reduce the effect of their misdemeanours on you.
Everything start with us, everyone moral should lead by example they do not make a better world by acting small by hiding their qualites away form a world they think is cruel, a world that they fear, You have to face fear - You have to lead by example as scary as it is you have to change things becasue who the f**k is going to? - the person who used fear of a bullet to pay for a hair-do? no! they can't see!
It's the scared and disenchanted moral Ones who it falls to - only we can! We are the silent majority - never forget the word MAJORITY there's more of us than there is of them, and they're already as bad as a total lack of morality can muster, we are nowhere near as good yet as we can muster. there will be no problem as soon as we get over fear and be ourselves we win.
don't capitulate, stay safe, and be yourself dude
Buff.

Totally agree, people's attitudes have gotten way out of wack. Part of it may be the holidays, but as a whole people have started to think they can say or do whatever they want without taking other people or feelings into consideration.
