While I love the beach, and the mountains, I could not live on, by, or near any beach say,.... in Northern CA. It is to cold and dreary and the water is cool. I live in the Sacramento area now, and I do love going to the ocean, it is definately way to cold to live. The Mountains, and foothills are awsome, and have breathtaking views, and I am working on moving closer that way myself. Ideal living spot would be in the mountains overlooking a tropical beach, of say, your own Island ;o) Then I could live on / near a beach, although I do love going to the mountains in the winter for snowboarding.....it's giving me the itch right now, I might have to take the rest of the day off... I live in florida and have been to the Mountains. I pick beach to live and to vacation. I would go to the mountains once and a while. I hate the cold.
