Some of you really should open your Bibles.

Universal Health Care provides coverage for every citizen.
Doctors are guaranteed payment.
Doctors can receive merit pay if they get their patients to lose weight, quit smoking, lower their cholesterol, etc.
There would be no HMOs to DENY LIFESAVING procedures.
There would be no HMOs to DENY Coverage to those with preexisting medical conditions.
There would be no more co-pays for doctors visits or prescription drugs.
We could replace Medicaid and Medicare which cost over $300 Billion per year. Combine that with the $92 Billion we can save by ending Corporate Welfare and we could provide every American with Health Care and Dental Care.
If you have money and want to opt out and buy your own insurance, you can do that too!
There are currently 47 million Americans without Health insurance.
The United States spends more on Health Care than countries that have Universal Health Care and those countries cover EVERY citizen.

Everything Jesus did was more political in nature than religious. Jesus was, by today's standards, a liberal. He advocated helping the less fortunate, not the most fortunate as Republicans believe we should. For those "Christian" Republicans out there, try reading Matthew 25:31-46

31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

While I don't agree with the conservative views on this I can see a little bit of where they are coming from. If I really believed that everyone on government assistance is lazy, looking for a hand out or on drugs, like they claim, I would be against it too. And I do think the regulations are flawed, and we do give assistance to the non deserving, I think the social programs are needed to help the deserving poor and the elderly. We need to stop helping the abusers, I agree, to a point. On the other hand, If children are doing without the necessities of life, it is not their fault their parents are idiots. So, do we take away their only hope? Not me.

I've never understood why they are so worried about abortion but perfectly willing to have death penalty, war, inadequate health care. Seems like Jesus broke the rules (working on the sabbath) to provide health care (healing the sick and dying). The one time he got a little violent (overturning tables) was when going after those who exploited the poor by profiteering (moneychangers at the temple).

Sometimes I think I read a whole different new testament than others....

I don't understand what being religious has to do with universal health care. There is a difference between helping poor people and using tax payer money to fund a program that provides a service that people can and do provide for themselves....universal health care is EVERYONE having health care, not just the poor people. So....I really don't think Jesus would be into such wasteful spending. I think they also teach in the bible that struggle and suffering is necessary to be a good Christian....I'm not a good Christian, so I'm not real sure about that last part.

Seems like it would make sense doesn't it?
I suspect in the end it's because the dems started calling for it first and you'd be hard pressed to get these two groups to agree on SOMETHING that might benefit everyone.

It's all kinda strange though since the republicans have also been the party that supposedly supports big business and you'd think that somehow universal health care would end up benefiting the same big business.

I suspect though that getting to the core of it, Jesus would not call for universal health care since he preferred to stay out of the political arena 100% other than reminding us to render to Caesar what is Caesar's.

If Jesus came back today and became the leader of the earth, but was to tired to heal all of the sick with miracales, then I believe he would support universal health care based on what I know about him from the bible.

Wow...so many poor assumptions, so little time.
a) The Republicans are religious when it suits them, like when they need votes from the fundy wackos. Otherwise it's pure hypocrisy.
b) Jesus is very likely a fictional character. He would not "do" anything.
c) The Democrats (like the GOP) mainly want to help themselves -- not the poor --unless it somehow suits their purposes. The insurance lobby is paying BIG $$$ to HIllary so she will enact healthcare reforms that they like. She will rollover like a tired dog when they say so. Wake up, dude.

Some of the politicians including some democrats receive large sums of money from drug and insurance companies. They take the out to dinner, give them free samples, so they can continue to make money off the sick..( insurance and drug companies)

Medicaid..is meant for low income, pregnant women..and SO is badger care. I couldn't even get health care until I got pregnant.

Also I am in school and I see no problem on using mine as well as other peoples tax money to get through some tuff years. Then when i have a degree and a career, I can them help out a young mother or someone in need. It's called being generous..something Jesus taught. Also Jesus wouldn't agree with greed, and selfishness..don't ya think?

We should open our Bibles, but you should read your Constitution. Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution lists those powers which are reserved to the federal government. Providing socialized medicine is nowhere to be found therein. The tenth Amendment reserves all powers not specifically granted to the federal government to the States or the people.

If anyone should be engaging in socialized medicine, it should be the States, NOT Washington.

Am I the only one who remembers federalism?

They are christians in name only. Not that I agree with Universal health care, but most people who claim to be christian don't practice and just use to judge people.

Example- Earnest T 2.0.

He drinks, gambles, smokes pot and yet tries to quote the bible and tell people how to live.

Edit: Why do people who are christian use religion on abortion but when you do the same about helping the poor they get upset.

Balderdash. Jesus, when he walked this earth, did his own health care and did it for free. I would like to see you try to persuade anyone to provide free health care...not the government version where you are taxed and end up paying 150% of the cost of health care in your taxes.
