If your government was innevitably heading towards one of these extreme ideas, which one would you prefer.
Just for this semi-hypothetical situation, you can't stop it, and there isn't going to be any revolution anytime soon. Which would you pick and why?

Simple questions demand simple answers.
EVERY answer above me just took it as fact that everyone in the US would roll over and accept some form of government "just like that". Hell, you cannot get 4 people to agree on what to order for lunch today, so gimme a break with 303 Million of US. There would inevitably be "underground" networks of dissidents, mostly older people who could still remember what breathing free air felt like; as long as the lattes and the trains run on time (to get to your job to get you money to buy food to feed yourself so you can make that train to get to your job to get your money, etc etc), WMAs blaring in a half billion ears so they dont hear the homeless guys begging for pocket change so they don't freeze to death in the night, they don't care WHO'S in charge.
So. There are dissidents. In that case, I would prefer a Communist regime. More people in the world have much more up-to-date knowledge of how to run successful underground resistance movements under the yoke of Communism, than have ones who ran or were in such operations under Fascist, or Totalitariat regimes.
In other words, I think it would be easier to topple a Communist regime than it would a Fascist one. A Fascist regime, ANYBODY they say is the enemy, IS the enemy. And when there is no eneme LEFT, YOU are the enemy. Fascism can only work successfully for one person in the entire planet (so it is species-wide self defeating, genetic suicide) It is an ultimately self defeating sociological system of govenrment.

It's an interesting question, but difficult to answer for two reasons: First, the two aren't that different. Both types of government exercise authoritarian control over virtually every aspect of citizens' lives. Second, Fascism is not well defined. Some brands of Fascism allow a relatively free economy, while others engage in economic planning similar to what occurs in a communist regime.
Assuming that a free economy is maintained, I would prefer a Fascist regime. I value my ability to succeed or fail on my own merit above my freedom to oppose the state's nationalist policies.

First off, the only real difference between Communism and Fascism is their focus. Communism is an 'internationalist' movement where as Fascism is a 'nationalist' movement. Imagine two goose stepping solders marching around the edge of the same Socialist coin in opposite directions: They 'seem' to be opposed to each other but on the other side of the coin, they embrace each other as comrades in arms. I choose neither: I choose Representative Democracy within a Constitutional Republic.

Fascism. i might quite stay in a rustic valuing the greatness of the country with a reliable dictator than stay in a undesirable idiotic communistic state the place i'm of equivalent fee to the druggie next to me. Plus, the loose industry does nevertheless stay in a fashion interior a Fascist u . s . a .. Viva Capitalism!

Communism would be much better. If we all agree to help our communities that we live in then we would all be better off.
