Yes. I don't think a Democrat win will solve ALL our problems. I have absolutely no delusions or illusions about that. But a change in foreign AND domestic policies will be good for us. We may be able to repair some of the damage to our reputation around the world. We'll see more research & development in sustainable energy, water usage and agriculture. The market is currently demanding it but we don't have enough resources in the right places to make it happen on a large scale. Technology is currently available to allow individuals or small community groups to generate enough solar and wind electricity for themselves then sell the excess to the power companies. Some people are already doing this, have made back what they invested, and are now turning a profit. We'll see if the power companies will allow this to continue.

People are sick of waiting for someone to fix things (such as rising heating & fuel costs) for them and and getting back that do-it-yourself attitude. There's a guy at work in the process of making his Ford S-10 pickup into an all-electric vehicle. He already converted another truck to run on vegetable oil. This isn't some radical liberal treehugger homosexual, okay? This is a conservative Christian construction worker with a wife and 5 kids that wants to be energy independent so that he can stop buying oil from the "crazy Ay-rabs that want to kill us". So I think if he can do it, others can and will too.

So here's the short answer: Yes. Better days are ahead!

Let's see...A republican, GWB, has been in control of the white house for 6+ years. The republicans controlled the congress for 10+ years during much of that same period. Conservative judges are the majority of the supreme court. That means, that for 6 years, conservatives controlled all 3 branches of the federal government. In that time, we have been at war nearly the entire time with a country that did NOT provoke our attack. We have grown the size of the federal government to unprecedented levels. The federal debt has grown at record levels nearly EVERY quarter. The dollar is weaker than it has been for nearly 3 decades. Our trade deficit has never been larger than it is right now, and we have surrendered individual liberties under the patriot act through the actions of our own government. And now, considering all of this plus some, we are supposed to put these conservative back in the white house? Have the conservatives, under the leadership of a self-proclaimed MODERATE conservative, given us any sign that they will reduce the government, decrease spending, or improve our lives? Who could possibly be optimistic about the state of the union with this guy pulling the strings? If we could vote for people that could at least have the ABILITY to adapt to change, that would be a huge step in the right direction. The fatal flaw with conservatives is they want to take us back to 1950, when things were perfect. Problem is 1950 already happened, and we need to move forward instead of back. The world is going to change, with us, or without us. We had better be prepared to change with it, or it will leave us behind.

We're going down and it's going to be an ugly, ugly ride. The entire financial system is on the brink of collapse. In fact, the major banks have already failed. If this were 1929, there would be a line of people around the block and the banks would be boarded shut. Most people don't have enough money saved to last for a month. If the banks collapse, they don't have enough money on hand to last a week. The government already showed their true concern for ordinary people during Katrina. There's going to be no help from the government, only brutal repression and it's going to be every man for himself.
