poetry.com sent me some stuff about being entered into some contest. i something was up if i'm being awarded with something i have to pay for. i started looking on yahoo answers and see other ppl saying the same thing. the poem i gave them is a very nice poem(not tryna brag) and if there just a scam i would love to get it into a competition where i actually have a chance of winning something for it at least.

I have no real answer for you, as I do not submit to E publishers or contests but I am thankful you note Poetry.com

Scam might be a bit accurate, but certainly so might stating that they use deceptive practices to entice and encourage submissions, for the eventual notion of profit.

If you're looking for monetary gain, or any form of PRIZE, you might consider a compromise in the form of recognition.

Just my 2 cents,

I have used poetry.com for years. They wish to publish all of my poems. I think they just want money, they have also sent me invitations to banquets as well. I know my poems are good, but I shouldn't have to pay for a book or travel to get recognition.
