Tomorrow I am travelling to Brazil and in total I will be travelling over 30 hours (lay overs, car time, etc.) I wanted to take sleeping pills for the plane so that I'm not completely exhausted when I see my friends and family. Last night I took a sleep aid, Diphenhydramine HCl, 25 mg (1/2 of whats directed on the box). This morning I woke up really dehyrdrated and felt like I had a hangover, including almost puking.. sucked so bad.

Does anyone have any recommendations for my flight tomorrow? I need to sleep on the plane.. what about Benedryl (sp).. I took that before a class once and could hardly stay awake. haha Do you think that put me to sleep without the side effects?

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest that you speak with a pharmacist. They're usually very helpful with questions like this.

Benadryl should be find if you have taken it before and didn't have those side effects. Diphenhydramine or Dramamine(sp?) are often used for motion sickness and one of the side effects is dehidration. Drink plenty of water about an hour or two before taking it might help with that "hangover" feeling. The nausia could be due to an empty stomache and so nibble a little something before taking it.
Good Luck and enjoy your time with your family!
