so they are trying to make a law (already have in some states) that you cant have red and green christmas lights on public property because it represents christmas? whats wrong with that??? and what has become of this world? now its holiday trees, holiday season, holiday gifts, etc. and they're saying that you cant have christmas symbols in public places because it represents CHRIST-mas, which is a 'religous celebration'. i know i've seen plenty of hanukkah symbols and other things around. so...

why cant we just say CHRISTMAS?!

I agree with you, I thought America was the land of the " FREE" It's similiar to trying to take "Under God" out of the pledge of allegiance. It comes down to personal choice.I personally don't care if somebody says Happy Hanukkah to me when I clebrate "CHRISTMAS" that is their religion so why shouldnt they say it? It doesnt offend me at all.Its almost as if America is starting to be run under dictatorship. As for the red and green lights why should it matter ? Once agAin it comes down to personal choice . If lived in one of those states I would just throw in some white lights somewhere and say it represents my Italian heritage..We as Americans need to take a stand and bring the United States back to what it once was The Land Of The Free!! My children say UNDER GOD and MERRY CHRISTMAS,, always have and always will!!

A private citizen can put up any religious decorations he wants for Christmas, Easter or Arbor Day for that matter. The First Amendment prohibits the government from favoring any one religion over any other. It's easier and cheaper for the governments not to celebrate any religious holiday rather than to try to celebrate all of them.

By the way, Christmas should be capitalized as should Hanukkah.

I agree and it doesnt seem right . Red and Green are the christmas colors. I dont know whats going on with this world but it keeps getting worse. I heard in Australia they wont allow Santa Claus to say ho ho ho to the children because they refer that to a women prostitute. Also a lot of Schools have taken out christmas songs and pageants because of other holidays. They should mix it all together in schools with christmas, hanukkah and kwianis. So we can learn about all types of celebrations. Not just one. Have a safe and happy holiday

Because the world is filled with uptight arseholes, that's why it's Ba Ba Rainbow Sheep now instead of Ba Ba Black Sheep. And black boards are now chalk boards and white boards are now pen boards.
People take things way too seriously, next thing we know, all colours will be banned because they're racially descriminative and the world will become like a black and white movie.
People need to relax, christmas is not just a religous thing anymore, I'm atheist and I always celebrate christmas. Because to me, it's about family not some stupid bible story.

I so agree with you! Our country is not what it once was and it saddens me so much. For centuries Christmas has been celebrated and accepted and suddenly the world is banning God. Our fore fathers founded this country on God. "In God we Trust" is printed on our currency. God is part of the pledge of Allegiance, and now it is being banned. I am fully accepting of other countries celebrating their own religious holidays and I have a Jewish friend who celebrates Hanukkah. I have sent her and her family Hannukkah cards, and she has sent me Christmas cards. God created all people, why can't we learn to love one another and be accepting of each others traditions? I feel sad that this is the legacy our grand children will be left with.

i'm so glad i don't live in an area that has to be "politically correct". the school my children go to still have CHRISTMAS programs...not holiday programs or winter celebrations. they sing and play religious songs along with the traditional songs like frosty and rudolph. each classroom has a christmas tree. they have a christmas party with gift exchange the last day of school before christmas break.

i don't see why the minority rules the majority. if they don't like it, they don't have to look. yanno, i don't like it when people knock on my door pushing their religion or bombard me outside of walmart or leave their flyers all over my car telling me the evils of christianity BUT that is their freedom to do so. they need to keep their pie holes shut when christians express their religion.

Yes. I agree. That is what freedom of religion is all about. I'm not jewish, but if you want to display Hannukah symbols, knock yourself out. This makes me think of the way religious freedom is curtailed in China. I is also scary, like the end of times.

i don't think of they ought to limit it, even inspite of the undeniable fact that it is not a non secular trip the two. It has some serious pagan roots and it would not in fantastic condition with the biblical account of Jesus beginning. The Shepard's have been out tending their flocks via night, this grew to become into not achieved in December because of the fact it is the wet season. the latest this could have been achieved is in October. the only reason this date grew to become into chosen grew to become into because of the fact the Catholic church needed Pagans to connect the church and the pagans did not opt to provide up their celebrations. So, Catholicism took their statues and adjusted them into "Christian saints and gods" and that they took their party to the solar god and adjusted it to the party to the Son of God. in case you study a Biblical account of many of the takeovers the Jews have been advised to do of alternative section's, they have been continually advised to break their idols and to not take part of their customs. So, it is isn't precisely a Christian party.

I agree with you. I work in the public schools. We are not allowed to say "Merry Christmas".

I am not sure. It seems like it goes against what the "holidays" and freedom of religion is all about.
