That Answers Hamster thing didn't explain it good enough for me, eh. I'm still confused.

What if I ask for you to clarify your answer because I'm not sure what you mean?

But people are interested in different things. If I thought the answer was funny I might want to comeback and read the answer.

I think Anthony "Devo" Spears answered it dodomeat228.

I'm still so confused. I need a beer, Eh!

The thing is, if I am asking a question so someone can clarify their answer and I email them than the people who come back and read this question will not know what I was asking to be clarified. They may need the same clarification too.

If you put a question mark at the end of a statement, it's chatting?

A good rule of thumb:
Ask yourself "would people be interested in coming back to read the answers?" If the answer is "no," it's probably not a good idea to post it.

If you want to follow up to an answer or question, then you should e-mail the person or send them an IM. If that isn't an option, you can risk it by posting details specifically to that person, or just let it go.

Here is what Yahoo! says, exactly:
Yahoo! Answers is a question-and-answer community of people sharing knowledge. We provide a couple of different ways for members to connect with one another, including email, instant message, and a comments area, so chatting in questions and answers is not allowed. When people use Answers to chat with each other, it lowers the quality of the site and inhibits knowledge-sharing.

Here are a few examples of what we consider chatting:

How (are you, old are you, was your day, is everyone today)?
What are you/What am I (doing, thinking of, wearing, etc.)?
Guess my/Can you guess my/What's your (name, age, sex, weight, birthday, location, etc.)?

We also consider questions that call out other users by name to be chatting. If the intent is to ask a follow-up question in response to someone else’s question and that person is not available via email or IM, post a new question that’s open to everyone in the community to answer – there might be someone else who’s better equipped to answer it.

EDIT: Perhaps another question that could act as a litmus test to determine if it's against the CG would be "other than entertainment, would this question and/or the answers hold any relevance for people who read it?"

The Hamster thingy needs people to talk to,,,,it's lonely....

Let me know if you got the answer to this,,,,I got one too,,,,still scratching my head,,,,,,& that too after the question was up 24 hours & i have already given best answer,,,,,,

Perhaps it's another new toy for the hamster thingy to frustrate us,,,

I see the answerer above me posted the so call answer,,,,My question that day that was canned was "If everyone in the world fart at the same time, what do you think will happen?"

and the answer chosed by me was "What if everyone farted & sh#t at the same time too..."

& I answered,,,,"Hmmmm,,,never thought of that,,,,"

I don't think it's listed in Yahoo Answer rules,,,,

,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Edit:-Thanks Anthony for your email. I tried emailing back but the mail got sent back,,,Perhaps you are right, by chosing best answer that contain the word sh*t somehow put the whole question into the limelight thus it got delete,,,

Something like asking "How are you?" Or "What's for lunch?" I guess...though the second one could be considered a poll or survey...there's a very fine line of that in this section.

I love Buster's kitty avatar. How cute. Freakishly cute, actually.

PS: yah, I don't know what they mean either. To me, in Polls, it's all chatting, or none of it is chatting.
