You go and see your paediatrician or early childhood professional or if in the UK, your health visitor or GP. They regularly check on a child's development and will be able to advise on anything you need to take for further investigation. They also do the simple hearing and eye contact testing that would highlight any obvious problems.
If your baby is newborn, then they can't focus anyway. It takes some time for their eye muscles to be strong enough to pull in the right directions. If the eye-colour difference is between an obvious colour and a "darker" eye, is it that the pupil is wider in one? This would make one eye seem dark.
Don't fret on your own, go and speak to a health professional and get some proper advice. Good luck!

The eyes being of different color may cost the child some stares and comments, but it doesn't affect vision at all.
As for focusing, Elizabeth V is right. Babies don't focus well for some time after birth. Don't ask online. Go to a doctor and get an evaluation. You may be stressing over nothing. Hope so!

How old is your baby? babies are still developing their eyesight so they problem wont focus too well, especially on things that are in a distance.
but yes babies can be blind. go to the dr. if you're truely concerned. but put something infront of his/her face to catch their attention and move it from side to side see if they try to follow it. maybe that will ease you worries for a bit.
and lotsa people have 2 different colored eyes. it doesnt neccesarily have anything to do with them having problems.
but you never know. ask a dr.

whoever said genetics is everything, or even more than environment is an idiot. My birth mother and my adoptive mother are both intelligent women. Yet while my adoptive mother was finishing school, getting a degree, etc, my birth mother was gambling, stealing, wasting her money and being promiscuous. By the time they were both in their 50's my mother had had a successful marriage for 25+ years, paid off two modest homes, made a name for herself in her field of work, and successfully raised 4 children. My birth mother gave up 2 children for adoption, had 2 more taken from her and never did an honest days work in her life. If genetics mean so much, then how come my life turned out so differently than it would have done had I stayed with my birth mother?

Yeah, how old is the baby?
Newborns don't focus well, their eyes will roll all around...back in their head, etc...its funny looking but normal.
It's also normal for the coloring to be "off", sometimes the whites of the eyes will be blue in color.
This is a question for the Dr.

It could be 2 separate things. 1 in a thousand people are born with two different colour eyes. I have a friend who has one light blue and one dark green eye. I'm very jealous because I think it looks cool.
David Bowie has two different color eyes, but that was due to a fight he had when he was younger.

I know several people that have two different color eyes. They do not have a problem with their vision. As adults they wear colored contacts so their eyes appear the same color.
You will need to consult your pediatrician so that they can run test to make sure that everything is alright.
God Bless!

just like it has been said: contact your doctor and bring your baby with you. only they can determine whether or not if something is wrong with your infants eyes.
