Yes, but most people give a thumbs down to any answer they don't like, no matter how correct it is.

I actually do.
I have sometimes given a thumbs down to something simply because i disagreed with it, but I will usually try to be somewhat objective.
If the persons answer is well thought out - and answers the question, I will sometimes give it a thumbs up, despite disagreeing with the persons opinion.
If it meets that criteria, but I still can't stomach 'agreeing' with their point of view, then I won't give it a thumb either way.
They need a sideways thumb!

Anyone that thumbs down someone elses" opinion" is quite simple.The fact that you don't agree with someones view point is what makes a debate TWO sided,but thumbs down should be used toward answers that do not address the question....not answers that aren't in your best interest....So with that said, NO ,most people don't give" thoughtful consideration"....

if im unsure about a comment, or if a person has one pro and one con as to my views i would rather not vote for them at all instead of giving a thumbs up or down

Sometimes yes, but usually not. I've seen some great, thoughtful answers receive thumbs down for no apparent reason. There are always trolls lurking somewhere.

Some people block others too just because they don't like opposing views.
