I drink almost a gallon of water a day as recommended by my OBGYN, so my urine is always light to clear. But I'm getting an awfully weird/strong odor from it. I don't have any symptoms of a UTI, so I doubt that's it. I feel like I've called the doc way too much, so I was just hoping someone might know if that's normal or not. Thanks!

I would call the doctor. They expect you to call them, and if they seem annoyed, find a new doctor. Is it like sweet smelling? It could be numerous things. They need to do a urine check. Good luck!

drinking a gallon of water a day is good...i wish i could drink half that (i hate water!!!)

you can actually have a UTI and not have symptoms of one. It doesn't sound like it's anything serious, because it's the only thing you are experiencing, so it can wait until your next apointment to mention. If you really are concerned, that's what your doctor is there for...to answer any and all questions!!! it's common for the odor...between the vitamins and your hormones, it's very normal.

good luck!

The same thing happened to me, and it ended up being a kidney stone. I was only in pain for one day, and they gave me pain killers and some kind of pill to help me pass it. It really wasn't that bad. Just ignore it for a couple more days, unless it starts to hurt to pee, then you should go see a urologist, not a GP or OBGYN. They can test to see if it's anything serious.

Why are you drinking a gallon of water a day? And why on EARTH would your OB want you to? Good grief.

The smell is normal. Your hormones are different in pregnancy, so you dont smell like yourself, and its a stronger odor then usual.

If you are on a prenatal vitamin, the minerals in it are causing the odor.
