In the last two days my brakes have acted up. I have to push the brake pedal almost all the way to the floor to get the car to stop. The pedal feels very soft. What can I do to get this fixed? Please help.

Your car is at the age where brake lines ar subject to rust through. I'd bet money you car is starting to get a leak in your brake lines from the firewall back. The under-body lines particularly catches a lot of road dirt, salt and water. Check the level of the brake fluid in the master cylinder inside the engine compartment directly in front of the driver on the firewall. If the level is low inside the reservoir have all brake lines and hoses inspected starting from the rear. It's easy to find a leak as brake fluid does not evaporate quickly.

An easy way to find the leak is to fill the reservoir with the correct brake fluid (consult your handbook inside the glove compartment) have someone pump the brakes and fresh fluid will spray or run out the rust hole.

possibly the master cylinder, it has a baffle on the inside and it may be collapsing. Take it to a repair shop for an inspection, shouldn't cost to much for diagnostics

Sounds like you need new calipers.
