the galactic alignment of the december solstice sun is the alignment of the sun with the galactic equator, from a terrestrial point of view. it occurs every 26,000 years. the last time was in 1998. the sun will completely precess (something like "overtake") the galaxy equator in 2012, as the Maya calculated. they thought this date will coincide with the end of the world.

@miyuki: the center of the galaxy is actually known. do you think we live in the middle age?

Nonsense from con men! One can say I align with you and everyone on planet. Alignment in space more difficult. Who know where is center of galaxy? Not know this, not say anything of alignment.
