There was a gas thing sticking up in grass when I was trying to park for an event, from the ground and I did not see it and drove right over it and realized it when it started to scrape so I backed up. It was one of them round ones. It was sticking up about 6-8 inches. I went and checked under the car and it looked like it just messed up the protective covering but today like 2 months later I saw oil or something on the ground and I am so worried that it is from when I ran over that gas thing. What do you think? Coud have it reached high enough to mess something up. Please help. Thanks, I never told my husband this car is his baby. thanks

It is in my garage so I am sure it is from my car. Second the fluid is a clearish brown color, and sorry it is a dodge daytona charger.

It is not clear if the oil you saw actually came from your car. Place a piece of cardboard under it and see if it is actually dripping something and if so what that something is. If it is dark brown it is probably oil, if it is a reddish color it is probably transmission fluid, if it is clear and oily it may be either brake fluid or power steering fluid.

Yes, you may have damaged someting underneath the car but if it is only a small drip it probably can be easily fixed. If you do find something is leaking, take it to a service station and have them take a look.

I am sure your husband cares more about you than the car.

Merry Christmas!

Yes, it is possible that it could have damaged the oil pan, but it is possible that it is completely unrelated. Yeah, you probably should tell your husband, just because there is no reason to hide it, seriously, it was an accident, I'm sure its not going to be that big of a deal. Its not like you intentionally drove into it, anyone could have done it.

How much oil was it? If it was only a couple drops, you are probably pretty safe to drive it to a mechanic's shop to have it checked. If it is a good sized puddle, I suggest having it towed.

Just remember, these things happen, as much as you husband loves his car, I'm sure he loves you more, it not going to be the worst thing in the world if you guys have to do a repair, that's part of owning vehicle. My wife ruined the engine in my explorer because the freeze plug went and she didn't notice the huge puddle of coolant on the ground when she went to drive off. She also ruined the diesel engine in my Suburban (My baby) because she ran it almost dry on oil when I was away, but she didn't do them on purpose, they are accidents, things happen, I wasn't happy, but I wasn't mad at her, the same thing could happen to anyone. Good Luck with the repairs.

Tell your husband that there is an oil stain were the car is parked and keep your mouth shut about the accident. If your conscious gets the better of you then make it up to him in other ways.

It is hard to tell without seeing it. Yes you could have damaged the pan. New cars should not leak (unless is condensation from the AC)

Did you smell the liquid. You should be able to tell what it is from the smell.

take it to a mechanic to check it out....try not to mess up your husbands ride anymore on your way there.

First, I think you are talking about a Dodge charger. and Plus, I think you should tell him, It isnt your fault that there was a object you didnt see. I would have it checked, but first, I suggest you tell your husband.

Could be transmission fluid. Have it checked by a competent mechanic.

TAKE IT TO A SHOP AND HAVE THEM PUT IT ON A RACK. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO INSPECT FOR ALL DAMAGE AND ADVISE YOU FROM THERE.
