Calmly and politely. Prefereably wth a tea pot in hand, I would think - a heavy one -- no, stop that. The more polite one could be in a grim situation, would be the best case scenario. Don't rise to the barbs that are thrown, keep your collective and walk away unruffled if you can -- then cut the brakes -- absolutely not!! --

If you are the super villain, a monologue explaining how pathetic they are and what you're going to do to them (giving them time to form and execute an escape plan in the nick of time).
If you are the super hero, defeat them utterly and then show compassion.

Act civil and good natured. Don't lower yourself to their level.
It drives people nuts when you don't give them the reaction that they were expecting. It also puts you in control of the situation---that really messes with their overblown ego. They may even learn something!
