I just got back from driving my car and when I went to park it, I took it out of 4x4 in neutral, then put it into park, shut the car off and it rolled backwards. I thought it was weird so I turned the car back on and put it into reverse and it wouldn't move. Shifted into drive and it wouldnt move, so I put it back into park and it made a kind of grinding noise..so I tried reverse and drive a few more times and still wouldnt move. E-brake isn't on..the car was turned on fully, any stupid little errors like that I checked, I have no idea what's wrong because it was running fine literally less than 10 minutes ago. Help :[

It sounds like it is hung up between 4X4 and 2 wheel drive. Many part time 4X4's have a neutral where the transfer case (the mechanism that transfers power from the standard 2 driving wheels to the other two wheels) and that is what it sounds like you have found. Start it up and shift back into 4X4 and then drive or reverse. Once you get the vehicle to move again shift out of 4x4 before putting it in neutral. It should shift back to 2 wheel drive. Now when you stop and shift into park it will work normally.
Merry Christmas!

Check the transmission fluid level. The instruction manual in for the car should have instructions on how to check it with pictures too.
With a rag, pull the dip stick for the transmission fluid out and wipe off the end of oil and stick it back in and pull it out again. If the level is not on the stick or lower then the add point, then you need transmission fluid added. If the fluid level is low enough to cause the transmission not to go into gear, it probably won't even touch the dip stick.
If there is some oil on the end of the dip stick, check the color and smell of the fluid. If it's black, smells burnt or both, then you'll at least need to get the oil changed. If the transmission is getting chewed up internally, and I don't doubt it, then the transmission will need to be replaced. A good mechanic will be able to tell if the transmission is okay or not..

The problems answer is in the 2nd and 3rd line of your question, I took it out of 4x4 in neutral, then put it into park, you left it in neutral. Put it back in 4X4 or 2WD should fix it.

The 4x4 shifting is stuck in nuetral. Try engaging it in hi and in lo range and then putting it into a drive gear.

I'm not sure how your 4 wd is disengaged, but it apparently hasn't completely disengaged. Put it back into 4wd and drive around then disengage while you are on level ground and see what happens.
