Hi,

Is there a difference in MEANING between:

"The hate is rising inside me"
AND

"The hate is accumulating / collecting / gathering(which one is correct out of those 3) in me

The hate is rising inside me, is idiomatic, used often. Though the others might mean the same, you will confuse people because -- compared to the other way of saying -- it sounds like you are trying to say something more or different.

Consider the difference between : 'I feel like a million dollars' and ' I fell like a hundred twenty thousand dollars'.

You should say 'hatred' rather than 'hate'. Accumulating, collecting, gathering and rising all make sense in that context. Personally I think 'rising' sounds better. You could also use growing, building or building up.

I would say the first mean the hate is becoming more intense, while the others mean that there is getting to be more and more hate. Whether that's the same thing psychologically or not, who knows? The second could refer to you feeling the impact of others' hate; I don't think the first could.

I would also say, not that you asked, that all three versions of the second sentence sound very strange.
