I think they are & I'm a wedding coordinator & event planner in Canada.

As for the person who said let the family member plan their wedding: The best reason for a coordinator/planner to be in the loop is to save the stress if the "family planners" disagree with your ideas, want to control it to their specifics and to assist you in getting resources or venues or such items without the hassels or runarounds. If anything, we are mainly moderators that literally make this our work and save about 250 hours if not more in getting the appointments for a venue or such without the phone tagging you may have to do while at your job. But that's just what I've seen in 10 years. lol.

Regardless, planning your own & having someone make sure it is your way is the only thing that matters.

yes and no . First check your budget. If not do the research yourself on how to have a beautiful wedding. If you have the money to spend get a wedding planner. FIRST start with a good book on having a great wedding.

We didn't use a wedding planner. I didn't want to spend the extra money for something that I could do myself. We shopped around and got good deals on every aspect of the wedding. If you have the time and put your mind to it, you can plan the wedding of your dreams yourself.

I think people get wedding planners for 1 of 2 reasons - they're either incredibly unorganized or they have a lot of money.

My husband and I planned our own wedding down to every last detail - truly, it was easy.

yes, i am a wedding planner in kent, england and we have lots of people wanting us to help them. It takes the stress out of planning and also we have discounts with suppliers that we pass onto the bride and groom!

We both have somewhat demanding jobs so I would like one, however we don't feel like paying for one. I'm paying a volunteer I supervise a couple hundred bucks to be the coordinator for the day of.

I don't think you need one unless you're having a really big wedding. There are plenty of websites or books you could buy to help you plan.

Not when you have people in your family who LOVE planning these types of things. Why pay for something my sister and sister in law and mother in law love doing???
