I like your poetic description of the early morning sun, Avia. thanks.

Yes Ms Annabelle, a lot of times.

As a little boy, I used to go out camping, sleeping in tents, but starting the night outside of the tent, just inside my sleeping bag. We would even sing "When you wish upon a star" to our own amusement.

Even as I grew up, I continue to stargaze whenever the travel mode lends itself well to sleeping under the stars.

Most recently, last Friday night, my houseguests and I were looking at the stars while lying on the grass at night (using cartons and blankets so we wouldn't get wet with the dew forming on the lawn) watching the meteor shower, from 11 pm up to around 1am.

At 21,000 ft above sea level with few clouds. I thought I could almost touch them... but brighter are the lights down below... oops! it's metro manila at night!

a more splendid sight at that height is the early morning sun peeking through the clouds. you'll see the myriads of colors as the soft sunlight is dispersed through the clouds as if someone has painted the sky.

Edit:

Ms Anabelle, it was really a very awesome sight for me.

Bivouacs as Boy Scouts of Troop700.

Forgot everything about using stars for navigation, though.

i think i have done so as much as any normal guy, but sadly not as of late.

on camping trips mostly, in the mountains, on beaches beside the shore, & mostly on very rural places, normally where there are no artificial lights nearby. & those were the best times. everybody should do so at least once in their lives.

On any clear night I can step into my yard and see the stars, they are awe inspiring. I live far enough north in Canada that quite often we can see the northern lights dancing in the sky. They are really something to see.
