How do you feel about the Springfield XD .45 ACP 4''. I have not heard any negative comments yet. Take it over a Glock in the same cal. ?

I am a .45 acp fanatic for self defense. I've carried them both on and off duty. My personal CCW pistol is a PARA ORD "nitehawg" compact. It's a great pistol. My wife also fires .45acp and wanted a new firearm for CCW carry. We spent some time checking out the current crop of new pistols. She liked the way the XD compact fit her hands. I purchased one and we put it thru some severe testing for reliability, safety and accuracy. Believe me when I say that I test a pistol that my life may depend on, much more so than the average person would. Among other things it must fire 150 rounds of the type ammo I plan to load it with, without cleaning and cannot have a single failure to feed/fire or I don't allow a loved one to carry it. Needless to say, my wife now carries the XD compact. I like it because it has the additional grip safety in addition to the trigger safety (which I don't trust anyway). I had a good friend seriously injured with a Glock's "safe action" trigger during a foot pursuit when he tried to holster it on the run and hooked the trigger, causing it to fire into his right buttock and down thru his calf muscle. The XD also comes with a flush fitting 10 round magazine, and a very unique 13 round mag that has a grip extension that makes it a full grip for guys like me with large hands. As for your second question, yes I prefer it way more than the glock, even though I am trained to work on Glocks.

I own the XD .45acp Tactical (5" barrel). I love it. And yes I would choose XDs over Glocks any day. They have better safeties and the gun has an overall better feel and fit to my hand. They look better too. I love it. I also have the 9mm ported.

I have no experience with the Springfield, but I heard that they are good. I am a Glock man myself. The glocks are so simple to use and maintain, you don't need a gunsmith. Tou can literally work on the gun yourself after about a couple hours of studying a book.Parts are easily available.

I have a springfield xd45, and absolutely love it. I've shot better groups with it than I ever had with another .45. I've never shot the glock .45's, though. They do not fit my hands very well.
