My kids are both straight A students and I don't know how to show them how proud I am of them. Other parents are comfortable mentioning their kid's achievements but I'm not sure when to tell about mine in a way that doesn't come out as boasting. Any ideas will be very much appreciated.

You don't have to get all crazy on their accomplishments such as buying them something, just stand up straight look at them and tell them how proud of them you are. Say things like I knew you had it in you. Words do 10X more for self esteem them material ever did.

Honey, just because your excited, proud self mentions to your friends that your kids are straight A students should'nt be anything to worry about if they are truly your friends. Real friends rejoice when their true friends children get good grades. Believe me, it is quite okay to boast a bit because behind every smart child are intelligent parents/parent. If they are really your friends, they won't mind. I would boast too. To show the kids your appreciation for all their hard work, take them somewhere special that they like or give them an uppance on their allowance or buy them something they really want. Kudos to you!

Why would you tell boast to other people to show them you are proud? You should tell them you are proud of them.

When I was younger, I was one of the top swimmers in the U.S. and I got good grades. My parents showed me that they were proud by telling me and by rewarding me. For example, whenever I reached a certain goal, I could go out and get a new swimsuit. Or I got money for my grades. Besides that, I need they were proud of me by the way they treated me and the look in their eyes.

Showing your own children respect, love, integrity and honesty show them you admire them and are proud of them. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks, especially other parents. That's just foolish pride you're talking about.
Be humble and when other parents say all that about their kids, just say," You must be very proud." You will take the high road when you don't feel the need or insecurity to mention your children's' achievements to anyone except your children.

Give them a hug! Tell them you're proud of them no matter what , and to keep up the good work. It will pay off in the long run. If you show them, they'll understand! Remember? you kids are smart!!!!!!!!

telling other adults isn't what shows your kids you're proud of them. if other adults are talking about their kids' achievements, smile and tell them how wonderful that is. but when you're just with your kids, let them see how proud you are of their hard work (not just their grades). ask them if they're proud of themselves. spend time with them doing what they like to do. love them. that's really all kids want or need.
