It is odd but this is the way of a primitive people during which time this stuff was written. There are laws from God that say I am to make burnt offerings on my front lawn, but if I actually did that I am sure I would get a visit from the local health department. A lot of the Biblical stuff is antiquated carryover from the primitive customs of an ignorant people.

Today, the burnt offering has transformed into the backyard barbeque grill.

No it is not nuts.

This law or ritual was meant to symbolize Jesus ransom sacerifice.

What is meant here also, is that God knew he would have to give up his best to sinful humans, which of course it is Jesus. This symbolism that was carried out, meant that when a person gives his best to God, the incense from the smoke was pleasing. God is saying he is acknowledging, that when a person did wrong, and they wanted to repent, that petition was acceptable to God. Although, this was a temporary arrangement, Not until Jesus died, did a new and better law was instilled.

You are correct God did not need the blood, but again it was symbolic that Adam who was pefect, did sin, Jesus who was also created by God, (Proverbs 8:20).

Everything in the old testament refers to the Hebrew god, and The Hebrews sacrificed animals to god instead of people, as was the custom in most of the world at that time.
But the fact is, the sacrificed animals were usually eaten by the people in charge of the religious ceremonies, which explains why the sacrificed animals were burnt by fire, it was an ancient Bar-B-Q.

Because times change, but history stays the same. People update their 'gods' in tune with the times.

They used to believe that stoning people to death was OK. Then that became non-PC. They used to marry girls of 10 and 12 years old (even in the US), then that became non-PC.

They used to say that women couldn't speak in Church, then that became non-PC.

They used to say that mentally ill children were possessed by 'demons'. Then that too became non-PC.

So why not blood sacrifices? Why shouldn't they also fall under the gentle hammer of political correctness?

No one knows the mind of God.
It is the sacrifice, the offering that pleases God, giving of the best of what we have, returning the same to Him from that with which He blessed us.
It shows our awareness of the reality of God, our need for Him and His continues sustenance. This awareness admits our humility, that we are less than God and know such.
God is self sustaining, needing nothing from us.
Our actions will neither make Him greater nor will they lessen Him.
What we do to please Him we do for ourselves, the evil that we do we do against our own souls.
God is the Greatest.

All praise is for Him and for Him alone.

The 'old' testament is the Jewish bible. Judaism does not and has NEVER required 'blood sacrifices'.

I can't believe we're living in the 21st century, and people still believe in biblical fairy tails.

Hasn't anybody learned anything yet?
How many people have died throughout the ages, in the name of religion?
