Well i think they are confused.

At no point did Jesus command worship for himself. Proverbs 8:20 and onward, Jesus explains his creation and his relationship with his Father , God Almighty.

If he were God , it would not make sense for Satan to have Jesus worship him. So along with many other basic facts, Jesus is Gods son, his first creation, as Jesus did he worshiped God Almighty, as we should also.

I think also, nothing more could anger Jesus than people to Worship him and not give exclusive devotion to his Father. Because Jesus died and suffered to establish the Kingdom so that all persons can be saved to have a hope of living forever.

I feel good for their conviction and faith on Jesus so much so as to ask others to join them in praising the Lord.

As far as the "should" part goes I beg to differ with them as faith and convictions are something very individual and no one can or should coerce someone to follow a certain path. If Jesus really calles them into his fold then there is no stopping either.

I tell them that is their prerogative but I prefer taking all religions into consideration and taking the parts out I believe to be right for me and having my own religion. They then say I will burn it hell and I tell them that's OK as I don't believe in hell and neither did Jesus and all forgiving God would not cause damnation to anyone as he loves us all.

I think they might as well be worshipping a tree or a rock or any other created thing instead of the Creator. Idolatry in other words, worshipping a man as God. It makes me feel kind of grossed out actually.

Jesus never wanted glory for himself. He knew that it's god who should be worshiped.Jesus said at Mark 10:18: "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone."
