Here's the deal-I have on my desktop as most people do, default shortcuts to 'My pictures', 'My computer', My network places', 'Recycle bin'. These four will not work. When I double click them the desktop icons(all desktop icons) dissappear and the Windows toolbar dissappears for a few seconds and reappears but does not go to the folder. I cannot access them unless I run a third party program like MS Digital Photo. But, My screensaver is My Pictures slideshow and it works. Any Ideas. I ran a repair (chkdsk /r) and it didn't help. Suggestions?????

Try to do a system restore to a date you're sure it still working ok., start>accessories>system restore>next>choose a bold date>next>next.

Try going into each program, right clicking anywhere on the page and select "create shortcut", that should produce an icon for that prog on your desktop. See if the new icon works; if it does delete the old one. if it doesn't I do not know.

Your window is curupted from many wayz it can be solved but its not the best way the best way is that reinstal your window
