I really don't want to go down the laser route as it would cost me a small fortune. I've heard that getting the tattoo redone in white ink might help, as it will show up as flesh coloured. Does anyone know if this is true? I'm not too botherd if you can still see a faint outline because it's only noticable if I wear a strappy top or dress.

Thanks for the advice everyone, but I don't want to get another tattoo over it. It's a nice tattoo but just in the wrong place. (drunken birthday present)

hi, I've had laser removal, and its the only way to go. White ink doesn't work in lightening up ink. Tattoos work like windows, the layer of skin being the glass. If you hold white paper up to a window over black paper it doesn't cancel it out, so white ink will not negate back ink. And there are no such things as tattoo removal creams, they are a scam and never work.

I had extensive laser treatment, you need to wait about 1 month between zappings anyhow, and you pay per sessions so it makes it a bit more affordable. I had 3 largish tattoos lasered, and they are all completely gone, with NO SCARRING!!! The only thing is those areas don't tan in the summer, but I can live with that. Its well worth it, do it! Or take the time to find a talented artists to do a good cover up job. It'll be a lot cheaper, and a lot less painful.

Some people can have allergic reactions to certain ink pigments. It's a side effect that can last a month to a year depending on the ink and the person's physical health. Everything else is just a by product of getting a tattoo. Soreness, redness, swelling, plasma leakage are normal effects of an open wound on you. Infection is the result of either a very unprofessional artist or faulty aftercare.

look at this just for a laugh!

I had a ridicoulous tattoo done when i was barely 17, and this year decidd I had to do something about it as it was on my upper arm, although I love tattoos and had had a fair few nice ones done, I hated this on my arm! It resticted what i could wear.

I went to a tattoo place that I knew was very good, and he took a trace of it. I went back 3 days later and he had designed a blue butterfly, blue covers best, with flowers and leaves and spirals behind it. I had it done a week later and now show it off as much as poss! Its given me confidence back.

I looked into laser removel but the price and effectiveness out me off, and I would rather have a pretty piece of art, than a big scar.

Dont think white ink will work, although tattoo artist sometimes go over a tattoo in white ink before they cover it up with another tattoo to fade it out as much as they can it doesnt really fade the tat and definitely doesnt show up flesh coloured. You should speak to a tattoo artist who may be able to recommend something, not necessarily another tattoo over the top of it either. They are experts in this field.

wrecking balm doesn't sadly remove tattoos... the only way to remove it is laser, which takes generally at least a few sessions and is costly and can scar...

white ink likewise won't work - it can't cover up dark ink, though it may give it a lighter tint - not enough to hide it though. you'd have to get a tattoo artist to look at yours and weigh up the benefits

basically, if you want it all gone, it's gotta be laser...

I don't think that a cream will have enough effect. Laser is really the only way, but you don't pay in one go, so you could just go when you can afford it (I think that you have to wait at least 2 weeks between each one anyway).

At the end of the day you made a huge mistake getting a tat while drunk and one way or another you will have to pay.

but if you dont want a tattoo at all i would go to a tattoo parlour and ask because after all they are the professionals

Go to a tattoo artist and tell him your problem. They should be able to tell you what you need to do to remove it/cover it up.
