Imagine that it's before the flop and you're the dealer. In general, what are the worst hands you should play if you're playing:

(A) heads up,
(B) against two other players,
(C) against three other players,
and so on up to casino level (nine other players)?

Redi, I didn't mean what are the worst hands possible. I meant what are the worst cards you SHOULD PLAY.

The worst hands you would call on the button with? I think they are....

(A) Heads Up: play just about everything except 'unsuited and seperated' (8h4s in unplayable)
(B) 2 Opponents: paint and rag (Kd2h)
(C) 3 Opp.: same as B
(D) 4 Opp.: any suited or connected above 7 or so (7h8h and 10dJs are playable)
(E) 5 Opp.: tighten up, play pocket pairs, suited connectors and J-10 or better suited or unsuited
(F) 6 Opp.+: premium hands, like E but a little tighter (I wouldn't play like 2h3h)

Now the question is which hands do you just call with, and which hands are worthy of raises!

You play the player, not the cards. If I think I'm better than the other players (especially in heads up), I try to see more flops especially if I have position on them. If not, then I play tighter. Otherwise, what the first poster said is perfectly correct. As 2-7 unsuited is the "worst" opening hand, then under all conditions, you should not play those hands if you're strictly making decisions by your own cards and not based on how other people play.

Sorry, but there are too many variables to answer this question accurately. How big is my stack in comparison to the other players? What about in comparison to the blinds? What is my table image? Are my opponents tight? Loose? Aggressive? Passive?

For example, if I'm heads up against a very tight player it really doesn't matter what I'm holding. I'll play 7-2 if I think I can steal the blinds. If I'm playing against two shorter stacks I might tighten up and let them knock each other around regardless of their playing styles.

While I agree that there are many variables and this question is kind of silly...the first answer is still correct regardless. 7-2 is the worst starting hand in ALL situations, though that doesn't mean folding is always the right move. I'd say that calling is pretty much always the wrong move with it though :)

A) any hand better than Q - 7
B) any hand K -10 or better
C) any A high or better

when nine handed, I only open with 99 or better for a raise.

The worst hands are hands like that. You can't make anything with it except if you're a lucky bastard!
