Your cells have a very short life span. the only ones that do not die off or get replaced are brain cells. Heavy medals might linger in the body for a while but without a steady supply those will also be removed from the body.

The nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that your body absorbed and used from that food was used to make new cells and/or live.
From what I have read every cell of the human body is dead and replaced within 7 years. (The single exception to this is brain cells which will die, but apparently never get replaced.)
(This may explain why older people appear stupid to younger people. Just kidding.)
The old cells that die are flushed out of the body, and excreted as waste matter.
So there should be no remnants of what you consumed within you after seven years.

rest converted into energy to fuel all those growth spurts, that forced our mothers to keep buying new clothes, when we outgrew them after a few months

Everything you have eaten is still inside you. It's how you grow. When you are around 18, you can stop eating as you are fully grown.
