I find it very hard to swallow that the whole population. Like, a few billion, originated from two people- Adam and Eve. firstly, the bible condemns incest. So I'm sure adam and eve's children had to had a lot of incense done to reproduce. And also, if that's the case, we'll be a whole population of deformed beings then. If it's not incense then what else could it be? Unless of course, they too were amoebas and could split into two overnight?

Also. There are ALOT of different races here on earth. All with features ranging very far apart. You have caucasians, south american, african, chinese, malay, indian, mongolian . And you're telling me it came from two people, how?

Your question confounded me for many years until I came to understand - "faith". There's no real point in trying to analyze every issue within Scripture. You either take it on faith or you can just walk away from it. None of us were there, but one person - God and He allowed HIS story to be told.
What changed my mind around was a 3 year long, in-depth Bible study of Genesis with a Messianic Jewish teacher. This is a very deep and multi-pronged question - I recommend you find a local church that is offering a Genesis Bible study and see for yourself.

Do you think (believe) that Moses was a real and living person? Show me his body! (then I'll believe)

Well, evolution doesn't explain the different races either. But, then everything has a starting point, doesn't it?

But the Adam and Eve story is very possible. A simple math equation. Or the "mushroom" effect.

The population of the world was about 2 billion in 1950, in just 57 years that population is now 6 billion. In two generations the population tripled. Unless you figure 18 years to be a generation, and still that would be tripled in only three generations.

lol okay,

i saw some of the other postings and well it is not hard to realize what occurred.

First Adam and Eve were perfect in that they were made to live forever. Our bodies are always regenerating themselves. Just part of what happens cells die and new one continue their tasks.

If that process was working the way it was suppose to, persons would live a long time. As did Adam and Eve and thier offspring. So really, as well, Persons in those days not only lived a long time, for the purpose of multipling, yes there were relationships with cousins and so on. However, lets not get a bad thought here, Offspring were just beginning to feel the effects of sin. Sin is not just being disobiedent, it has a concequence in physical way too, which is death.

So instead of our bodies rebuilding themselves, and staying alive, Our bodies decay, and cannot keep up with the rebuilding processes.

How did so many people came from only two, well again people lived a lot longer, and because of them being closer to being a perfect person, having relations did not have the adverse effects as in our times.

Also, regarding races, we are all human, the DNA is what it is, because of the probility chinese have chinese babies or features, and so on, but all are still a human dna. When Noah and his sons went their separate ways, their dna adapted to their enviroments. Thats my explaniation.

In the beginning it was not incest, it was necessary for the survival of the species when adam ate of the forbidden fruit. After the earth was properly populated it was no longer necessary, and therefore no longer part of God's plan and was abolished. The different races happened at the tower of babel, where God also changed the languages from just one spoken word, to many.

Gen 11:9

That is why its name was called 1 Babel 2 – because there the Lord confused the language of the entire world, and from there the Lord scattered them across the face of the entire earth.

People twist things. If I start to say I believe in Christmas Eve .. someone will jump in and say that I also believe in Christmas Adam. Nobody can prove that Christmas Adam ever existed because he never did. People twist things like I never said I believed in Christmas Adam.

The biblical Adam and Eve are part of the story about how God relates to us.

The scientific view of the world suggests that there were many more people around. So it was not necessary for incest to occur with Cain and Seth.
IMO science makes the story more credible and real without diminishing any of the spiritual enlightenment it was originally intended to convey.

If you take a Creationist perspective faith is required to connect to God. If you take an evolutionary perspective then faith is required to connect to God. It doesn't matter whether your basic assumptions are true or false faith is still required to connect to God. Faith is robust like that; it makes people equal.

People say that science and religion are incompatible, I have to disagree.

Okay kids meet your new imaginary friend Christmas Adam. Go out and play.

The bible bible does condemn incest, but it also says god is loving merciful and kind, loves you and is going to send you to hell if don't obey him.

Also if you subscribe to the trinity belief.... God is jesus... marry is jesus's mother, God/jesus impregnated marry.... incest? Mother F'er?

Deformities related to incest are unlikely even through multiple generations of incest between immediate relatives, and only a slight increase risk over the general population, it is called inbreeding depression and is comparable to the less commonly used term (due to political correctness) outbreeding depression. inbreeding depression only occurs the first few generations of inbreeding. and overall chance of mutation is slim.

The different races would be expected as certain features become more dominant and clans went their separate ways. Its just a part of evolution. The pacific islanders are an excellent example of this, small isolated populations typically have higher overall inbreeding as was the case with the royal marriages in Europe (being limited to other royalty). There certainly is that 'royal look' about them.

I've considered the same question too. In all my reading and questioning, the one solid explanation for me is evolution.

Sorry, but I believe the bible to be a book of superstitious myths with a shocking track record on anything scientific. That is a pretty easy statement for you to check out.

I am sympathetic to the concept of panspermia which is basically saying that primitive life arrived on a primeval earth on a meteorite or comet (which possibly being water based could well support life). Its a possibility anyway.

However life started, evolution over millions of years did the rest. Again, a book like The Blind Watchmaker (R Dawkins)explains this in minute detail and is easy for you to check out for yourself.

The Bible does condemn incest, that's why God created people after Adam and Eve.

It's ok, your question is a good one. Don't forget the big flood too - not only did the whole population ''rebuild'' itself all over again, but it was done in even lesser time than from Adam and Eve.

I'm glad you're thinking for yourself. Keep it up.

I counldn't quite digest your question.

It is obvious that there were others in this world in those days. Its obviuos that there were other races, other semi-human or godlike creatures. The serpent was obviously a semi-human or godlike creature. That's how he could have sex with EVe. An animal could not have done it. Because Cain was the son of the serpent.
