Bible at some place shows that he was arrogant but that's not the truth. The truth is in the Qur'an and it says :
(He has made me) kind to my mother; He has not made me arrogant, unprosperous.
Holy Quran 19:32

Jesus never committed sin. This means that he obeyed the commandment to honor your father and mother.
To the answerers here who claim the Bible says He ignored her -
Read John 2:1-11. Jesus and His mother are at a wedding feast in Cana. Mary learns that the wine has run out - a major problem at a wedding feast back then. She goes and asks her son to take care of the problem. He does protest that it is really not quite time yet for Him to reveal Himself to the public as being what He is, but out of love and respect for His mother, changes the water to wine.
Far from ignoring her Jesus actually counted her as His first and most loyal disciple. Mary is the Mother of God, and is known as the Perfect Disciple of Christ.
When Jesus was dying on the Cross, He told the disciple whom He loved (John) "Behold your mother", and then looking at His mother who was at the foot of the Cross, said "Mother, behold your son". (John 19:25-27) From that time on, John took Jesus' mother into his home.
I'd say those things are indications of the great loyalty and respect Jesus had (and still has BTW) for His mother.

Jesus commanded St. John to take care of Mary as He was dying on the cross (John 19:27). That's not ignoring her.
To answer another poster: Jesus is/ was the only *begotten* Son of God, as is stated in John 3:16. So yes, I would call that a ''some other way.''
In those days, a person's lineage was determined by the lineage of his father figure, not necessarily by that of his true father. If anyone would have been adopted into Joseph and Mary's family, he too would have been accepted as part of the Davidic line.
He was *anointed* with the Holy Spirit, which kept Him free of sin. He was also anointed as our King. This makes Jesus the Christ.

Of course. But insecure people like to imply that his mother had little bearing over her son and prefer to enforce acknowledgement that he was the son of God, and protect a religion that enforced male dominance. Also, Immaculate conception does not imply he was a test tube baby, he came from her, she bore him--childbirth pain and all. She is his mother, afterall--not a stranger. I think that anyone that implies otherwise is just plain silly.
So I suspect the bible is somewhat altered much like today's history books, in that some things are highlighted while others are minimalized or not mentioned at all. Like the possibility that it may have very well been his wish that his church be carried on and headed by Mary Magdeline--a Woman. I'll take it once step further, I'll go so far as to supposition that this notion may have been part of the reason he was crucified. Now I have no basis for this whatsover in terms of indisputable evidence, but it makes a lot of sense. Afterall, what would have caused more disruption to the rulers at the time, a guy who claims to be the son of God or someone gaining influence and who just might let a woman head his church? Maybe it's just hogwash, maybe not, but look at history. Times of witch hunting...What was that about? Again, women wanting to have a voice, choosing to explore other spiritual rituals that perhaps were less demeaning, and rebelling against a religion that puts them on the sidelines...What happened? They are witches, possesed by the devil? What, things have changed? Gays? They are possesd? Incongruent, maybe, but possesed? What is going on here? Sure I went off topic, but only to point out that in these times, people need to be willing to find their inner truth, and compare it with what is being fed to them. Jesus's teachings were meant to be a gift on people, not a form of control.

In what way was Jesus the Son of "God"? Was it the way in which we are all the Sons or Daughters of "God"? or some other way? It cannot have been because he was supposed to have been the Messiah, because he cannot have been that! Why? well, the Messiah had to be of the line of David, but Jesus was of the line of Aaron!
It cannot have been because he was supposed to have been "The Christ", because he never was. ("The Christ" means: The annointed one, he was never annointed on his head, nor was he ever sanctified! So he cannot be "The Christ".

He took to calling his mother "Woman" I don't think that was meant to be a token of respect.

As far as I can see from my private study of the NT, he never felt that she was his mother.

He had a relationship with her. Intellect, giftedness, status and position don't transcend relationships unless you're self-absorbed.
