I'd like to say that it shouldn't really matter what you know, if you find the right girl for you then she'll find you interesting no matter what you talk about, be it engineering or art.
Anyway, when you go on a date, try testing the waters first, so to speak. Try to learn your date's background and what some of her interests are, this can be done by asking and by telling her some of yours, and seeing how she responds.
Introduce some engineering and engineering-related topics, if her responses are generally favorable then keep talking. If not, then talk about something else you know. If she does find it interesting, try not to overload her with useless details or too broad generalities unless she asks you to specify or tells you to pan out; be sensitive about your environment and see how she's taking what you're saying.
If a second date is being planned, remember what you two talked about during the first date; read up on things she likes, what she's interested in, try to keep abreast of current events related to those things. Try to brush up on your conversation skills and make sure you listen to her when she's talking.

It is all a matter of interests............well you can equip yourself with different topics if you try to get doen to your ground and read more lighthearted ones but very general and interesting like what you have mentioned...well you can always avail yourself with these books in the library or go to the bookstore at all....for the girls whom you want to date with..why not it is just a matter of having interest in you too, so do introduce the engineering profession just lightheartedly and give a general background on what you do, then test the water , if she continues asking questions then she has interest in it..if she is quiet about it then you can shift topics ,,but you can always start a date with personal interests then special interests..then there you can mention your engineering profession ok? so good luck ..have fun~~~

Trying too know deeply into the world of arts when you don't actually interest in it are not a good idea friend . youre just end up like a walking text book without all the excitement when you talk about it with your girl . Just knowing what good movies are playing now on the nearest Theater, a beautiful quite place for you both to go dinner, and put on attention to everything she said are actually good enough for you to start your dream date. Women sometimes just want to know about you, your hobby, your dreams etc, the topic are not too important. except porn of course... They just want to be closer and know us better.

Assuming you're a good student, you oughta clean up as Engi in Team Fortress 2. Hone your skills over the week, bring a girl over, and show her how fast you can build a Level 3 Sentry. Her clothes will be blown right off her when she realizes you also erected a dispenser and there's still 20 seconds left in Set-up.

My name is cheryl, and i'm totally into that kind of thing.
I appreciate these fine things because i have a bionic eye.
not like those that you see in movies that have lasers shooting out of them. but more similar to the human eye.
Ok i wasn't completely honest, i had a failed suicide attempt when my gun rigged to a cannonball failed. It hit me in the eye instead of in the forehead, and i'm forced to live with these burns all over my acne ridden face. The bionic eye stopped working about 2 and a half years ago, but it still looks like it works. The little green light still comes on whenever i'm about to go to sleep, ironic isn't it?
but anyways, you can message me to talk about our common love for engineering.
and maybe you can take a look at my eye, and get er' going again, what do you say?

Try a more general topic to start off with. How about just new movies, music, her interests, etc... Once you know her better, then you can introduce your engineering abilities. She needs to like you as a person first.

hehehe.... for psychology, try the dsm iv (lists just about every mental disorder known to man, and their criteria... also lists color charts, and some other useful information.
seriously. try a museum, or books on art history... look up the differences between impressionists and classical.... go find an old book written by socrates, and plato... cant get more philisophical than that, really.

Or maybe a radio controlled one like the girl on the electric wheel chair base. SO cool.

Don't worry so much! THere's so many different girls out there in the world. There's gonna be someone who likes you for who you are. Just be yourself, if the girl is not taken with you, she's just not for you. Have patience, there's definitely someone out there made just for you. Good luck and best wishes!
