Old people become like little children again... normal, because they have fought a lot, struggled a lot in their lives and finally they feel, that things always ought to be as they wish them to be.
Old people sometimes act more emotional than young children, but I guess they have the right to do so.
It’s difficult to change your mind and learn something new when you are old, because you lived all your life a certain way and you do not see the need to change - you want all others to change and adapt to your way of thinking, the correct way in your eyes.
As otherwise, you would have to admit that you were wrong your whole life and maybe suffered for nothing???
It’s some kind of self-defence.
It’s not simply being stubborn; it’s the only way to keep your heads up high and say, "I did right in my life!"
We shouldn’t try to discuss with old people, we should try to understand and not take it too serious, as everybody has the right to have his own points of view.
I always think, that when I am old my daughter will say the same about me (that’s the way life is and progress takes place… law of life I guess), all I hope is that she will be kind with me…

The people that are "old" today have seen many changes in their lives and this world. Most people you consider old lived in a time when family values were alive and well, not just a campaign slogan.
Their generation fought wars and died by the tens of thousands to preserve freedom and build prosperity for our democratic society.
They must be appalled by the way our politicians, lawyers, churches and corporations have wasted the great advantage they gave us during their lives.
They have every right to be set in their ways as they near the ends of their illustrious lives. The dignity, honor and respect for others that they held as great virtues is dying off with them.
They probably feel like the younger generations didn't appreciate all the sacrifices they made.
They can certainly see that a general lack of respect for their values is leading to the downfall of a society that they helped make great.
In their final years they probably feel like drawing a line in the sand so to speak.
God Bless them all.

As the age passing people get experience & knowledge which make them over-cohfident and they think what are they saying is right.Another factor is their ego due to that after passing such a living a long tine they don't know about this thing which hurt their ego.Thirdly the generation gap. As passing the age they more become like children . that why they become a stubborn

When there are 2 (or more) ways of thinking,
ways of doing,
ways of appreciating,
ways of setting up priorities - and ...
the other person wants to keep his/her own position or values, does this mean 'stubborn' ?
what is modern and what is old fashion/out dated ?
do you know :
how it felt to live in and with a body that can no longer facilitate your wishes ?
how it felt to live in a body that has no holiday from complains (mild or severe)?
how it felt being no longer needed by the working society, by the children/family ?
who knows what is 'best' for the elder people?
is respect for the elder's feeling or way of thinking so difficult ?

Not necessarily so.They have seen more realities of life than what you did so far.The old ones are valuable Gems in any society.Their attitude and advice are always good for you .You will reach that age some day and you will understand how true these people are. They have to be little assertive to make things work the right way in any family.Give respect to their suggestions/advice and most of the time they provide valuable gifts, called, "advice", which you think is not acceptable to you.Don't be so rude. They do so for your own good.

I think that once you become a certain age you are just set in your own ways and feel like everybody should agree with you.

because elderies tend to get more jealous about young people's age. they wished they can still be young, get more freedom and do things like young people these days. There is no reason about why in the world we aged too much in our life. it is like we never stay young for thousands of years.
What good question, you posted!

Because they feel comfortable where they are. Some old people don't like to move too much.
