I have 4 tattoos and had to get 4 waivers for them at MEPS and all are approved. I've just got 5th tattoo of a tribal design. Will I get in trouble if I dont get a waiver before I get in to boot camp or will they not even care since im already in??

Did you tell your recruiter about the tattoo? The rule is that after you enlist and are put into the Delayed Entry Program, you aren't supposed to get any more tattoos. With that being said, let your recruiter know so he can get the paperwork taken care of and get the waiver done. I would suggest that you stop getting tattoos until after bootcamp, then go ahead. If you continue to need new waivers during DEP they start to question your ability to follow orders and may decide to kick you out. Not to mention when you are in and go overseas, there are better tattoo artists. I got one from Spain and one from Austraia. Best of luck to you in your Navy career.

That normally depends on where the tattoos are located on your body. If they are not above the shoulders or below the elbow, you "should" be alright. But it's always best to check with your recruiter just to be on the safe side.

And by the way, you're not "already in" yet. You have an obligation to go because you signed a contract. But until you have actually entered boot camp, they can always negate the contract. Knowing that you had to get waivers for the 4 tattoos that you already had, what possessed you to get a 5th after you had to go through all the BS of getting the waivers?

Talk to your recruiter.

**** the Navy for caring about tat's anymore when recruitment is at an all time low. If someone wants to join the military, during an altercation, then sign up whomever wants to sign on the dotted line. **** this, "Well, son, you need to get a waiver for them there tattoo's you have." This is the navy, the navy I served for 8 yrs, and I am ashamed to say that they have become a bunch of bitches and pansies about this stuff.

Sorry yahoo answers for my verbal outburst.

if you are in DEP and you got a tattoo.. you are SERIOUSLY in trouble. you agreed to NOT get any more while in DEP.

YOU ARE NOT IN THE NAVY YET. you have now altered your status as a DEPPER by getting a tattoo. your recruiter could easily drop you from the roles for violating the terms of your agreement.

if you show up to MEPS and only 4 of 5 tatts are recorded, you will be DQ'd.
