these say if you had conditions on your green card your green card is invalid after divorce.but if you had no conditions you still retain green card status.

If your green card expires in 2011, that means that it was issued in 2001. If you lived in the U.S. for four years, that means you left in 2005. If you have been outside the U.S. for over a year, that means you have abandoned your residence in the U.S., and even if you did have the green card in your hand, you would not be admissible as a returning resident because you were gone for over a year.

If the people at the embassy told you that you do not qualify for resident status in the U.S., you must not qualify. If they could help you, they would.

You may intent to live in the U.S. now, but this intent alone does not preserve any right to return to the U.S. in a manner which is contrary to the immgration laws.

you are still entitled to live here even if you are divorced, as long as your card is valid... apply directly from the uscis and state it was lost or stolen, but you may need a police report or something
but unless you have a 2 year green card or it expired, they should not hassel you

If you obtained the card by marriage, you will lose it if you get divorced. Ask the US embassy in Cairo if your green card is valid. If it is not, then ask what other visa types are available.

Call any office of US STATE DEPARTMENT and explain your situation. The US COUNSEL can help you with all your questions at any embassy also.

Explain your situation to them and explain that your husband divorced you and took your card. Ask them if its possible to prosecute him.
