Very good question... so before becoming desireless, we have to keep one desire of knowing god alive... and make this desire so strong that it dilutes all other desires....

subsequently this Sattvic desire too will vanish into the truth

The first step thus would not be to be desireless... but detaching from all desires.... and attaching to just one desire

No desire is not the root cause, it's our identification with "less-ness" (Alpajyata), which creates problem. Question is why do we have desire? Let's understand the following process -

1. Desire starts when I compare myself with others those who have more. When I compare myself with others, I find a gap. And then I act to fill in the gap. So identification with less-ness generates KNOWLEDGE, that I am not complete.

2. Then DESIRE steps in. You would like to attain it and fill in the gap.

3. After that ACTION takes place. You act and try to achieve, which gives us satisfaction and feeling of completeness.

You enter in to spiritualism, only when there is no desire (greed) or fear. If there is desire then it's an ego-trip in the wrong direction. We also know that God is beyond Knowledge (intellect), Desire (mind) and Action (body).

If YOU ARE, then YOU ARE NOT. If YOU ARE NOT, then YOU ARE!

the need for being desireless arises due to the present way of running the human society. imagine, one person is become desireless, the sacrifice made by that person will be enjoyed by other members of human society. what is required is a road map for building a good human society. for achieving this, first there should be a resolution by the world body. such resolution is not achieved till now due to not understanding the seriousness of the necessity to do it. the present behaviour of human kind leads to destruction side.

Oh! without a desire, we cannot even move. We need a desire to eat, stand, sit, etc... !
When we do not get what we desire, let us look at it as an opportunity to try once more for doing what we love(what we desire is what we really like for us, so we also love it)! Instead of a negative 'reaction' to the result of mismatch of situation with our desire, let us accept that the situation needs several other factors apart from our desire & efforts, and let us strive to create or set those factors/conditions to get the desires.
That is all any one can really do!

This is a Buddhist doctrine. According to Christianity, it is not desire that is the root cause of all problems, but it is the fact that our desire has been corrupted and perverted away from the way that God created it.

We cannot experience completely sinless desire because we are sinful creatures, but there are such things as desires which are not sinful - such as the desire to know and love and serve God, the desire to love and serve your spouse, the desire to love and raise your children, the desire to eat (within moderation) the desire to explore and discover God's beautiful creation etc. These are all good desires.

"But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!"
- Galatians 5:22-23

Yes "desire is the root cause of all problems "if the sesire is not well managed and easily tempted by satans. In Islam the real great war is how to manage our desire to only good actions.Desireless is impossible because good desire is needed by humans.Withiut desire we will be extinct. We need desire for alive such as we neen drink water and eat foods.Witout it we will die.We neen desire of sex for developing next generation.Without sex desire we will have not the next generation. If we have no desire to love God,God will hate us.So a well managed desire is really needed by us
so we will have a strong faith and we will safe on this earth and in the eternal life after death.

Even in loving God, love him without any anticipation
If we do not desire to live for fulfilling our basic needs such as hunger this BUDDAH'S theory is baseless. Any desire against the will of god is harmful. Dream to fulfill your aims.

I disagree. Sheer stupidity is the cause of our problems. Period.

There is a saying in my language

"Even God is scared by an idiot"

That says it all.....
