People who receive an education through the public school system are already at a disadvantage academically. Add to that someone who dropped out and pursued their GED (a multiple choice test - that can't possibly cover the knowledge that is imparted within four years of High School).
You'll be placing yourself at an even greater disadvantage.
Regardless, whatever you do -- best of luck.

If you are going to finish high school by getting a GED and definitely going to college and then positively going further to become a teacher, there is nothing wrong with your plan
we all have to have goals and plans in life, in order to succeed... and i hope you will! take care.

I think that a lot of people who drop out of school don't follow up as you are doing by getting your GED. People just worry that if you drop out and get NO education at all that too many doors in life close for you. Its true. Life isn't easy without an education.
Good for you and best of luck in your career

Because you will.years back it was possible to drop out and get a job and make lots of money. The reality today is that the competition out there is so fierce that you need to seperate yourself from the average person.take 2 guys of the same age going for a top exec job.Who do you think they'll hire? You need to decide how much money you want to make in life.If you are happy with average then keep your education average.

GED spells quitter. Simple as that. It will be on your resume for the rest of your life. High School will be a distant memory before you know it. Enjoy your youth, and gain all the knowledge you can.

Yes, you will absolutely regret it, in the other parts of the world a lot people never get a single chance to go to school. Get friends, there's nothing wrong with socializing. Online social networking would be nice if you don't want to see people. Try this site a lot of nice friends here http://www.rotatrixfriends.net/index.php/public/signup/friend_alexanderandi/

Because it is true. The people who say this are older and wiser and have lived through things they want to help others avoid. What you want to do is simply not responsible. And it is not mature. Write to the community colleges and ask the admissions department what they think of your idea. But write to one you know you are not going to try to go to.

people are stupid. My father dropped out in his senior year, got his GED, and later a 2 year degree.
I wish I had dropped out and gotten a GED. Nothing would have changed except I would have saved 2 years of my life, and gotten started with my carreer earlier.
Good luck, and don't forget when you are a teacher not to give your students that dumb advice about not dropping out.
